Still don't understand the incessant need to bash NOLA some of you have.

I'm glad it's not like Atlanta or Dallas. I don't like either of those cities and wouldn't want to live there. I don't start and/or post in threads about them daily though.

I love Louisiana outside of the dindus and the heat. I'd prefer somewhere more hilly/mountainous and a bit cooler. I've tried to get my wife on board with Raleigh or somewhere in Tennessee but she likes Louisiana and is really close with my mom (inb4 I like being close to her too). She's not from here and likes it more than I do for some reason. I think once my kids are done with school or my job situation changes I'll convince her.

Dallas>Houston

Same white bread bedroom community in the middle of nowhere. Dallas at least has a hockey team

i mean outside of a VERY small slice of life for a minority of its population, it's a legit shite hole

let's just be honest

it has a shitty population and the underclass dominates the demos

they have a terrible culture that has destroyed the public schools and has created one of the most violent cities in the world

it's run like a kleptocracy by the government

the elites are inclusive to everyone else and purposefully impose their will to stop good things from happening so they maintain their preferred culture and their status

there is almost no hope of any real economic progress due to the structural issues i just listed

i mean let me put it this way: if you don't drink or enjoy drinking cultures and hate jazz, what does Nola offer?

If I had to pick between the two I'd go with Houston because at least there there's less pretentious wanabee new money nonsense. It's a shallow culture.

Houston is just sort of there.

Houston is the classic case of, "it's whatever you make out of it" because it offers basically every slice of life you want

Nola is "you are on board or you're not" place. it's for people who aren't self-starters and requires the energy of others to live

Food
No snow
Easy to access city
Museums
Professional Sporting events
History
Sailing
Fishing
Affordable urban rent/living
Stop for pretty much all major music

Probably more, just off my head

This kind of sums up the overarching conclusion of this thread

and if we're comparing it to a Houston, Dallas, etc?

and Nola is "affordable" now?

Every single city in the country has problems. I lived in Austin for not quite 3 years and while it's a cool place, it's not the magical land of oz either.

I love New Orleans. If you don't that's fine, nobody says you have to. No it's not perfect or close to it. That still doesn't explain the compulsion to shite on a place you don't live over and over and over again. It's like who are you trying to convince and what exactly are you trying to convince them of?

Amazing how much time some of you spend thinking and talking about a place you don't even live

The most bland major city. Not a boring place, but nothing stellar. My least favorite city.
