we're also going to be the key factor in tearing down Russia as an international force

i am a much bigger cheerleader of the SA/ATX metroplex that is developing. there is NO argument about either option being superior to Nola (which i briefly touched on in this thread)
I agree 100%. I'm a bigger fan of the SA area and may be moving there soon. It's one of the ten largest cities in the country, still rapidly growing, but doesn't have the 'megalopolis-feel' of a Houston. You can drive on I-10 West and be out of town relatively quickly.

I'm not really arguing either way. I just said my opinion of when I lived in HOU was that I couldn't wait to get out.
You can find almost the exact things in larger metro areas across the country when you put it on paper in black in white. That's when losely based esoteric terms like 'feel' and 'vibe' that can tie into overall happiness starts to have more meaning for someone.
I mean you can find a belk a bowling alley a golf range a job a sushi restaurant an arts museum EVERYWHERE.

San Antonio is just as bland and boring as Houston. It's just anchored by the fact that it's slowly sprawling out to Austin

Was that your reaction when your apt got broken into in lolRice Village? When uptown mommy and daddy didn't send enough money for you to live off of and you couldn't hack it, so you slinked back home?

i have 2 questions that are somewhat interrelated
1. Nola basically sucks at everything except for "soul/vibe". what does Nola do, exactly, that promotes and fosters this ONE positive area?
2. Might the answer to #1 be the reason why Nola sucks at everything else?

Lessiz-faire attitude possibly.
I love the amount of history that is always completely surrounding me. Nearly every single structure has some rich story. I enjoy the essentric walks of life I run into in front of my house on the stoop daily.

Yeah...really bland. You must be a blast to hang out with. In SA, you are a short drive to the Hill Country, a booming wine area, several recreational lakes and rivers. I think the Riverwalk is overrated and touristy, but it's still a nice place to grab a drink with a newcomer to the city. And there's the whole thing about crime rate comparisons...

The fact that you let posters on this website dictate where you will and won't travel which caused you to write off an entire state makes you sound laughably ignorant

i mean the fact that we're having a discussion solely on economics and culture while ignoring this speaks volumes
when you add that in, it's not close. it is RIDICULOUS the level of VIOLENT crime that Nola defenders try to ignore/explain away
i know most don't know any better, but they're legit trending in 3rd world territory in terms of murder rates

this is just as much a state issue as a NOLA one

The hill country is so overrated...dude, you have hills with oak trees on them? Tite. Doesn't get much better than that

i dunno if you missed it last week or earlier in this thread, but i've pretty much accepted that LA is doomed

The greatest is everyone defending NOLA or Houston...I could name a dozen places better than each.
It's simple minded, but understood given the locals of most people who post here.

It's already there. It was the 32nd most dangerous city in the world last year. Worse than Tijuana and Kingston
