I'm sure it did suck if you were queer and played inside with barbies. I didn't. I rode my bike from staring lane to lee drive from perkins to highland rd sun up until sundown every day of every summer. It was fricking awesome. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

What were supposed amateur athletes have more freedom in college football than NFL players. There’s a reason NFL players can’t leave and join a new team after every season. Sign a contract in the NFL and play or not, if the team doesn’t give up a player’s rights they aren’t going anywhere. In college football these players can leave before the season is even over. Let’s just go ahead and call it semi-professional football that’s affiliated with Universities, because that’s what it is.

An NFL player could leave and join a new team after every season though....

And the schools can not renew their scholorships. Two way street now.

I wish all you retards would just say you think the players should just be treated differently (and unfairly) than everyone else involved because you like watching it better that way. At least it’s honest and doesn’t make you look like a dumbass

How can an NFL player that signed a 5 year contract leave after the first year? Did I miss something with NFL contracts? The NFL player doesn’t have to play, but he most certainly can’t go to any another team he wants to after the first year unless the team he signed with trades him or gives up the rights to the player. It’s not the same in the NFL and College Football, stop pretending like it is.

College players are on one year contracts

Yes it is. The player has to fulfill the duration of the contract. In college, that’s year to year

Just face it. The college football experience we knew is gone. Gone forever. View them as pros now. Stop supporting something if you don’t like it. If you do still support it, well then you’re just a dumbass.

Not all NFL contracts are for 5 years dumbass.

Once a player hits UFA, if he wants maximum flexibility, he could negotiate a one year deal with any team of his choosing, and assuming he doesn't get franchise tagged, he could continue doing so as long as there was some team willing to sign him.

A college football player in today’s world can opt out of the current season anytime he wants to.The consequences of a college football player doing that an a NFL player doing that aren’t the same. Again, stop pretending that professional and college football players are treated the same right now on December 30, 2024. College football players have more freedom than NFL players, that’s not up for discussion, it’s a fact.

This post is so dumb it must be a troll

quote:

In sports..NIL deals..i saw a report of players suing a coach for non payment on a deal. These kids today dont know hard work..this country is goin to hell.

I guess back in the old days, you know when men were men and stuff, people didn't get mad when promises were broken?

And what about the hard work they have put in to get to be one of the few good enough to be paid to play top level CFB?

In some ways yes, but the NFL also has a collective bargaining agreement so it’s not really a fair comparison

You can continue to post everything you believe all you want, but when a player signs a contract with an NFL team, he can’t just leave if he’s still under contract. Again, he doesn’t have to play, but he isn’t going anywhere unless the team he signed with lets him. Contracts in the NFL and the NIL/Transfer Portal aren’t the same.

I’m still failing to see the big difference here.

The only thing you could possibly say is college kids can voluntarily not play and still get their money, but we don’t even know for sure if that’s true as the deals aren’t public.

Again, just say you don’t like the shite because you don’t like it. When you start making shite up you loss all credibility

The difference is that college football is now semi-professional with the players having more freedom than NFL players. With all the tv rights, money, and especially gambling money involved it is what it is, but the sports media can’t just admit that college football isn’t what it was not even 10 years ago. If the powers that be want college football to be a free for all without any rules, then go for it, but at the same time just admit the amateur athlete is a thing of the past.

That's always the most hilarious parts of these threads, be it college or pros.

A lot of talk about "lazy" or "entitled" players who haven't "earned it"

If a person is considered to be in the top 0.00001% of whatever it is they do, there's a pretty good chance they have put in more effort and more hours perfecting that then anyone posting here has ever put into anything in their whole life.

And anyone who gets lazy will wash out REAL quick at those levels. Most people here could turn mediocre in their career and skate by without much consequence indefinitely.

First, what does this have to do with anything? Second, let me know which media outlets believe college sports, and especially college football, hasn't changed drastically since 2014.

You literally just made up this complaint based on absolutely nothing. The facts are opposite of your feelings.
