Like I said....holiday guilt trippers are nothing but selfish..It's about getting bodies in the hosted event.
And I think social media has made it worse because now you have to show off the pictures.
From the ages of 18 - 32, my husband spent so much time driving to/from his home town anytime a relative so much as had a cough. His mother would guilt the ever living shite out of him to come home for all holidays, birthdays, a cousin's 3rd wedding, etc. When we had our son, he shut it down. He works 14/14 shift work which involves missing holidays and birthdays, etc. So when he is home, his time with our son comes first. It's been this way for 10+ years, and my MIL still tries to guilt trip, but it doesn't have the same effect anymore.
I think we're breaking the cycle though because she wanted my son to come to her house this week, but he said he didn't want to. She called him and started with the guilt talk, but he just goes, "Maw Maw, I love you, but I want to stay home this week." I was pretty proud. My husband and I were both parented by major guilt trippers and we used to always let them win. It's cool to see that my kid doesn't get sucked in.

You sound like a real dick. Ruin Christmas for your sister and family cause you're too lazy to get off your arse.
This is stupid. How does someone that does NOT want to be there ruin it for people that do?
