Not just a pole enthusiast. You're a star.

EV, of course.

I giggle every time I see one. There are a shite load of them in Austin. The founder is either oblivious or a decent troll.

Volvo owns them now. I’m almost positive the Polestar name predates Volvo and if I remember correctly and was a rename itself. I’m too lazy to google it tonight. Someone else can correct me if I’m wrong.

Correct Volvo bought Polestar about 7-8 years ago. They were a racing team previously called Flash.

I saw a girl getting into one of these today. Just came out of a yoga place. one of the most lickable asses you will ever see.

Probably has nothing to do with the car though.

Absolutely worth it to impress your friends and take it out for a ride or two, but don’t ever think about keeping it long term
or introducing one to your parents.

They are very generic, over priced electric cars with poor range. They are Chinese owned. I don’t know why anyone would get one over a Tesla. Nice interior maybe but that’s subjective.

You are correct. I would say the look better than a Tesla, but that's subjective

First, I very much agree with not buying products that feed China and for that reason I would not buy a current Volvo.

That being said the big advantage Polestar has over Tesla is fit and finish. Polestars look and feel like they were made by a large entry-luxury car maker, Teslas do not. They also feel more like and ICE car inside the cabin which some people might like but they have less space as a result. As a driving appliance, Tesla makes a better car. As for the exterior looks I like the Polestar better because they have a more coherent design to my eye. Tesla has yet to hit the design mark for me except the pre-production ideas for the Roadster which they still have plenty of time to frick up.

My big question about all EVs that aren’t Tesla at this point is the battery tech and management. Tesla is light years ahead of everyone else in BESS manufacturing and management. There’s just no way to overcome the massive data gap between Tesla and everyone else for a while. Even the ones with significant deployment aren’t collecting data and tweaking the software like Tesla is. I think we have a few more years before we start to see degradation parity.

That is indeed the big gap. If I was going to buy an EV that was to be my primary vehicle the only choice I see as reasonable is Tesla... but I would still buy a Taycan.

I rented one back in April on a trip to Vegas.

I drove great. Range maxed out at 200 miles.

It took 40 minutes to charge from 40% to 90% at a 440 volt charge station. Each charge ran about 20 dollars.

The only reason why I took the polestar was the price. I was able to get a great deal from Hertz.

Had one preordered last year, but then the incentives lapsed before delivery. Was able to cancel. Decent car though, the critiques are also fair critiques.

If you are a dude driving one of these, what’s the percent chance you like poles?
