No plans. No preparations. If Louisiana goes virtual, our teachers and administrators will scramble to deliver an online program. I thought these people were intelligent. Private schools won’t miss a beat. They are either going back to physical school, or have made preparations to deliver an online curriculum. Then I read about EBR teachers wanting to protest. You are ranked horribly and you are threatening to protest - just quit and go be a daycare employee because that’s all you are - you are simply child watchers. What a joke.

It's the government. Stop putting your faith in the government for anything.

They're not making moves due to lack of intelligence.

I don't think people are generally outright incompetent, but I do think that this extends way beyond the scope of what our school systems are capable. Bureaucracy and politics have made it impossible for our institutions come together and show leadership during pivotal moments.

Schools not having their shite together is just one more in a very long string of instances that showcase a system hamstrung by the will of a very few rich families.

They don't care about you, nor should they. As much as people don't like to admit, this is one big game to them. And until we start seeing it that way as well, they will continue winning.

Don't worry, this isn't new.

They have been incompetent for decades.

"faith" is a belief in something that cannot be scientifically expressed. Comparing today's educational system to a religion does seem appropriate. Have an upperdingle.

Teachers that may be excellent in the classroom are often not impactful in an online/remote learning curriculum.

Lost faith in the public school system long ago. They teach to the lowest common denominator and celebrate mediocrity.

The best public school systems can be good but most are mediocre at best. Some like the EBR public school systems could charitably be described as raging dumpster fires.

I lost faith when I became a teacher and was told I could not fail students. There are kids that I see graduate that scored below a 10 on the ACT. They cannot do the simplest 3rd grade math and yet they get diplomas. It has become a participation institution now unfortunately...try your best and get a diploma no matter what.

Had more of the teachers taken basic economics courses in college, instead of basic babysitting, they would realize that if they all come back to school and a bunch of them get sick and die, then the demand will increase and the ones who are still alive will get a pay raise...

Golden opportunity wasted.

Well, to be fair, they have only had a couple days to prepare.

You'd think with all the administrators each school has they would be ready. They will say "we wouldve been ready if we had more money" like they do for any other problem.

Sadly lots of public schools are just dressed up day cares that give you a credential at then end instead of an education. Also a jobs program for democrats. The kids who have parents who care and hold them accountable will succeed, but everyone else will just skate and learn nothing.

I legit don’t understand the mindset anymore.

on one hand “Black lives matter! Let’s fix the problems and start with the lower income communities. They need us now!”

on the other hand “let’s close all public schools and let the lower income communities take a giant step behind private school families. No fricks given for kids with Illiterate parents, kids with single parents, kids with 2 working parents, kids with deadbeat parents, kids with mental disabilities, etc. Thats not our problems as educators!”
