Best people watching in the world, but it also makes you sad.

Eat a shrimp buster as your last meal. Will stump the coroner at autopsy.

It's from a story that a dude I went to school with told.
My cousin was a popular kid/athlete who tried to befriend everyone. In doing so at times he had some very awkward acquaintances.
This one kid who was lower class, had went to a town fair at 17, he told how a carney gave him that opportunity and he took it. Said the chick was in her 30s and her man was in his 40s. He dropped out and left town with the fair turning 18 during the few months he was on the road.
He got kicked out for stealing drugs, saw him a few years back. Got a GED and works in the oil field. Probably some vhs footage of him at his peak in life floating around somewhere.

They do not have valet parking or valets dressed in pants down to their hips with their underwear showing and a hoodie.
Do not fall for this.

Go early in the day, gets dark and dangerous at night. bring lots of cash. Corn dogs are $9.00 each. Park in the fair parking lot not near the Super one. Had a shooting there on opening night right outside the gates near super one.

Hit up the WonderStick booth. Best and most unique snack in the whole joint.

You must owe them alot of money or they must really hate you. Cant think of another reason to go anywhere near that cesspool! Went once as a kid, was traumatized for life. Never Never again.

Pro tip: that bearded lady you see walking around is not part of a side show, shes just from Haughton or Minden.

Going to Shreveport to visit relatives and they insist that we go.
Get better relatives, marry up!
Failing that on such short notice, stop by your local hospital. Ask reception to have surgery bring some menthol to rub on upper lip, that kind that blocks perforated bowel smell. Shreveport State Fair and perforated bowel smell very similar.

You can park across the street around Fairpark or down Hearne Ave for free..
Kind of like parking on one of the state or president streets for a night game in Tiger Stadium.

Don't go. It sucks and it's in the ghetto.

You mean the "Louisiana State Fair". It's the "real" state fair. Anyone else who grew up in north Louisiana remember getting a day off school to go to the fair? You would ride a school bus over to the fair for the day. I would do that and then my parents would take us over every year on a Saturday to spend the day at the Fair.

I can get those anywhere. I'd rather try the local or regional delicacies that can sometimes be found at fairs.
