Yes, trying to find the good in trying times is a fortunate gift. I just don't know how a child that's been raped ever finds a positive side to that experience though.

I think people cope with things in their own way. The brain is a funny thing. You can makes sense out of anything, if you try hard enough. If it makes her feel better to say it brought he closer to God, then good for her. Better than reliving it every day and then blowing her head off.

I think she also copes with it by helping others and feels that in it of itself is the lesson/blessing in it.

I'm sure it wasn't preferred but to be able to use that to find a positive in life is the definition of strength and perseverance.

I wish I had a 4th of that ability.

In healing from any type of loss you go through stages. I would be sad then angry for a very long time.

ETA: I hate the new iPhone update. It totally messed with my word prediction and autocorrect.

You’re saying that a person cannot reach the same level of awareness without trauma? Agreeably, it usually does takes an “awakening” of sorts to learn from something.

Based on my experiences and from those I've learned from, correct. I think it's better to say you're thankful for the change of consciousness than for the trauma, but one begat the other.

It’s one of the most beautiful parts of being human. We’re an incredibly strong species.

I think a major part is stripping the ego. Once that happens you can move beyond anger.

Anger is a spiritual purgatory. A suspended state in which growth cannot occur

There are some twisted sub-humans out there that have done terrible things to their kids or young relatives. I hope they rot in hell. There is no excuse for the lifetime of memories those children have to carry and no excuse for their actions.

The resilience of some of these grown up kids is amazing and turning the experience into a catalyst to strive for a better world is to be commended.

The hallmark of a resilient person is being able to get past that and use it as a positive.

I agree and although I do not know this woman personally, I admire her for being able to turn it into a positive.

Trauma, particularly at a young age can cause people to disconnect as a way of coping. This can be very negative. However it does cause some people to explore areas of theimselves and become interconnected which has profoundly positive results. These people are almost superhuman in the areas of forgiveness, empathy, resolve..

one of the leading causes of death of young people is suicide. often triggered by something insignificant like a breakup or finances.

She has divine faith which is a GIFT that most do not have. I envy her for being able to let her God shoulder her grief, anguish and hurt.

Could be, could be, but I bet any guy who's been in a relationship with her since isn't a better person for it.

If this is how she sees it, I think she has handled what happened to her in the most positive way possible.
