That is such utter horseshite. Were you possibly in Eastern Europe? Cause that statement goes over like a lead balloon in nearly the entire continent, as well as the UK and ROI.

Good. Don't sit at another table again and take your broke arse to McD.

So many poor people in this thread.
All the poors are the "pro tipping" crowd because that is their employment tier.
Those of us with money are laughing at how these people think they are "owed" more.

Do you think a server that has to be waived down, doesn't refill drinks, doesn't bring condiments to the table, etc deserves a tip?

That means 90% more sex, what with the improved health and the extra time. I think you're onto something here.

I do. No one is forcing you to tip. I just don't think that this principle of yours is so noble as to necessitate publicly announcing it as if it is some virtue.

There’s a lot of mis-directed anger here. The real villain is a business owner who has manipulated both his help and his customers into taking over his responsibility to pay a fair wage.
Don’t we feel guilty about not tipping because we know the server is being underpaid? The server gets angry because he knows his boss is screwing him at two bucks an hour. Who is the heavy here and who are the suckers?

I think this recent trend of entitlement is disgusting and should be roundly rejected by the public. We should be shaming those who are trying to shame customers into tipping for services that do not deserve tips.

Those people are few and far between.

Wrong. The person working behind the counter in a fast food joint was never tipped. Now the option is forced on every customer using a card and the employee is expecting a tip. I don't feel guilty for not tipping them. I feel angry that they think they have the right to attempt to guilt me into it.

That was the example he gave and your response was:

Why did you make him out to be the problem and not the server in his example?

I'm talking northen Europe. Hell Spain is way cheaper. Almost Mexico.
I find the food here in restaurants to be very well priced. I'm in Paris now and stuff is more than Holland but still less than big cities in the states.
Fuel cost more some goods are more. Cars cost more. Groceries are for sure cheaper.
I'm specifically talking in context to tipping so food stuff. Some fast food is more. Most is on par.
I just had an excellent 3 course meal at a fully packed and beloved Parisian restaurant for €27. I could have got that same meal at a tourist spot here for €18.
Again food stuff and things you would tip for are cheaper.
With paying full wages.
.
Don't get me started on beer and wine. It cost more for a coke zero than wine or beer. Hell I was pounding pints of Belgian beer last night for €3-5 each.
I can't get a bud ice for that price at bar back home.

We need England's method. No tipping allowed or expected.
