When I stop at Wendy's I always tend to get a Spicy Chicken combo. It was $7.25 forever. It's now $10.26.
It does seem like fast food is starting to bump into lower end restaurant takeout in many cases. We don't eat out that much either way. Tipping is sort of out of control when it's hitting Subway

I never buy coffee at Starbucks or Community Coffee House. It is a complete waste of money IMO. The wife and I have cut eating out by 90% and are healthier for it. She cooks fresh vegetables and we bought half a calf from a friend who raises cattle. Grass fed no antibiotics or hormones. I'm 6'2" and was weighing 230 lbs. I now weigh 213 lbs and feel much better eating healthier. I drink coffee at home or work. At home I can splurge on quality coffee and still much cheaper. Inflation has everything so expensive. Cutting Star Bucks and Community Coffee drive thru just makes sense to me.
This should be the norm and not the exception.

I usually only tip in sit down restaurants. The tip usually starts out at 20% and goes down from there depending on service.
If the service is good I tip 20% if it’s so so usually 15% and if just ok 10%

I wonder when the mass training actually rolled out for nearly every damn counter service business to say “it’s going to ask you a question?” Lol like how passive aggressive is that?

So many poor people in this thread.

Everyone seems to expect a 25% or greater tip.
I’m not so much bothered by the percentage (though 25% should only be for well above and beyond) … what gets me is that tips used to be just for people who made less than minimum wage or had to spend their own resources getting something to/for you - waiters, bar tenders, pizza delivery, casino dealers, etc.
Now the person working the takeout counter, or the guy making sandwiches at fast food, etc. They ALL expect tips now. Hell, I saw a “tipping guide” once that said you should tip your realtor, and your mechanic. frick that.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I don't mind tipping if the service is good. I know I have no desire to work in any public-facing food industry or service job, so the fact that they're working and doing a decent job is something I feel should be rewarded.

MFs don't want to work for tips, imagine the service if they were guaranteed a wage.

I will admit I felt guilty at first when these started popping up and I’d tip. It’s been a couple years now and they are absolutely everywhere. I gladly hit no tip at this point. It’s having a negative effect. You see one beggar and you feel bad, you see hundreds and you get pissed off

Just start Pyongyang cash everywhere. Tip accordingly when justified. No more guilt.

Wouldn’t blame them if they did except the American Dollar, it’s with about as much as a peso!

I think people on this board mistakenly believe they'll get the same level of service from hourly employees as they get from normal servers.
The service at every restaurant I have been to in every other country has been great, including a McDonald’s in Amsterdam in the train station.
They function fine without tipping.

I love Europe. You tip if you want a tiny amount. No 20% shite.
I was explaining to a bartender the other night that I felt obligated to leave a euro with every drink. She didn't complain but thought it was odd we don't pay enough and resort to tips.
I don't know how they do it in Europe because everything seems cheaper

Actually my bank account is at seven figures. Maybe because I don't piss my money off it is there.
