I'm considering building a woodburning brick pizza oven.

It looks like the build can range from small to large and from cheap to elaborate.
Has anyone here built one or had one built?
Pros's Con's?
Design advice?
What all do you use your outdoor pizza oven for other than pizza?

The goals of a future fat arse?

I will eventually use mine to contain my home fusion reaction. Still a few bugs to wok out, tho.

I bought a green egg.

"brosky" bamafan
not surprised.
Not everyone who likes pizza has to be a fat arse trailer park bama fan.

Five years ago I decided I wanted a brick, wood-fired pizza oven. To learn about them husband and I went to a Bread Conference in Skowhegan Maine. (We ate a lot of lobster up there.)
Most of the folks there were really into bread, and we watched someone build an oven, and there were at least four ovens going at any time. (These were portable ovens used by 'food truck' and catering types of usage.
We decided it was too much work for making a single pizza.
Part of the decision was made by us because it takes time to get the oven up to 400-500F. A radar temperature probe to test temperatures. And then a flame thrower to get the temperature up when the wood just wasn't hot enough.
They still have the Bread Conferences every summer if you are interested. Just seeing bread cooked in one is cool. And you will understand when you read a bread book about how professional bakers boast about how many loaves they can get in one burn.

Do you eat pizza that much?

Hang on, let me ask my head mason, head engineer, head purchasing agent, head estimator, head contractor, head sub contractor, head lead design, head chef, and head greenskeeper and I will get back to you.

To be fair, there's a lot of really cool things you can do with a woodburning brick oven. I know the OP specifically said pizza oven, but it's very versatile.
As real turf fan said, you can make some amazing breads in a woodburning brick oven. Bread is really difficult to do well, but I'd think it would be a lot of fun learning.

pro - the 5 or 6 times a year you use it you will like it
con - its never going to be used and will just be expensive lawn art that takes up patio space

I BGE would be much easier unless the OP is gonna start cranking out pizzas like Dominoes

Biggest two cons are:
1: expense. Even if you build it yourself the kit to build it is expensive.
2: preheating. If you decide you want a pizza it takes a while to get it to temp. Like hours.

Just get one of these ~$7k
There's a pizza place in Anaheim CA that just uses a conveyor belt oven and it was legit

What's the point? How is the pizza better or is it just a conversation piece?

Just buy UUNI Pro instead. 600.00 and it is portable.

Pizza and breads out of it have a very cunchy crust and slight smokey flavor. So yes, I think the pizza is better which is why many resturants advertise their's done the same way.
My son has celiac dz so buying pizza out is impossible. Have to use gluten free dough and prevent cross contamination.
My wife has always wanted one.
I invision doing veggies, fish, and wild game in the oven also. I mean its still just an oven right?
Not sure but think the fire in the oven could be nice just to burn and watch even if not cooking. Kind of a variation on a fire pit or chiminea.
As far as cost it looks like I could build one for under $400, and I like building stuff.
Im adding on to back patio and building a small outdoor kitchen. Will definately have a gas grill, maybe a sink, and possibly the pizza oven. A gas burner for boiling bugs might be added also but my jet burner is pretty handy as is.
