I haven't spent a ton of time in walnut creek but practically lived in Pleasanton and San Mateo over the last 20 years, so I know the area really well.

Walnut creek is a really nice suburb of the bay area. Its very wealthy, expensive and mostly white. There isn't a lot to do in walnut creek, but you are near some really big cities in oakland, san fran and san jose that have a lot to offer.

One big warning is that getting in and out of walnut creek sucks balls. Yeah, there is a bart station but its pretty far down a little used line. The commute is going to suck balls.

I love the bay area, but would never live there due to the cost and how bad the traffic is.

A huge improvement in quality of life, expensive , but worth it. Great weather, lots of outdoor activities, drivers that yield to cyclist instead of going out of their way to kill them. Great produce, and food, restaurants that know how to prepare great dishes using seasonings besides Tony's, and cayenne pepper.

A friend lives in Walnut Creek. He works at Chevron Headquarters in San Ramon and makes the commute everyday. He is a Raceland baw that has been living out there for the 15 years of so. He loves it, told me the last time he visited NOLA that he will never move back to Louisiana.

Transportation spending has decreased with the recent budget issues. It has gotten to the point that I chose to move for job security.

any average 30k house costs you over $1million

taxes will be 75% of your income

you will be stepping in human shite to go check your mail and homeless vagrants will be sleeping on your lawn while illegal mexicans will be raping your wife and daughter while the cops tell you its racist to stop them.

oh and the scenery on the beach will be pretty

seriously, i would take a pay cut to stay or quit before going there
