Few years ago I had the ABS light/speed sensor thing on my truck. I tried putting up with it for a while. Feathering the pedal which doesn’t fking work and ends up in cha cha slide. You will eventually rear end someone when the roads are wet. It’s usually an easy fix . Wheel speed sensor. Probably 15 min. Code reader will pick up which wheel it is.

I was in an extremely pissed off and vile mental state during the realization I fricked up. I browsed the OT to blow off some steam waiting on the rain to quit. Ended up using this board to vent a little.

1. Don’t take any insults at face value on here, this place is filled with trolls.

2. You’re doing a noble thing and trying to better your situation. That’s something we all can applaud.

3. Many of us have driven shitty vehicles including myself. I used to daily drive a 95 Silverado with 200k on it that ran hot, didn’t stop, and had no speakers or AC. You’ll learn some valuable skills trying to work on your truck.

4. Keep your head and don’t be so hard on yourself. At least you had the means to buy a truck. You’re further ahead than most.

Because he's actually a hazard to others on the road.

Maybe I missed it, but has OP mentioned how much he paid for the vehicle?

If you dont have anti lock brakes, then you cant just slam on the brakes and expect not to slide. You have to pump the brakes if you need to get on them hard.

Your issue is probably a bad brake caliper. Get a good mechanic to check them out then tell him you’ll come back next week and go on YouTube and learn how to fix it yourself.

It’s cheaper to pay a mechanic if youre going to start breaking stuff so dont break anything. I like pick and pulls in this scenario because you get to remove the part yourself so you get a bit of practice and you’ll see what you need to do.

Start with the brakes if there is anything wrong other than not anti lock. Then get some decent used tires if you need them. Then start changing out fluids with the CORRECT fluids. Don’t use the wrong fluids.

Was this truck used regularly or has it been sitting?

Sounds like brakes work fine but you really need to put some good tires on it.

Just roll with it but take care of it. It will require repairs. That is ok.

So I of course buy this 32 year old truck with no AC during a 3 day long rain storm. Was supposed to finally be a way to actually stand on my own for a minute without having to rely on someone else's vehicle so I jumped on it.

The brakes are meh. I've slid already.

..., I made a stupid decision to better myself in the heat of the moment and ended up with this .

the only thing worse is that you financed the hunk of junk.

The roads are wet and you don't have ABS so you're scared.

fricking vaginas.

We drove rear drive cars with no traction control or ABS in this.

My dearly departed grandmothers had better car control than you.

Ive owned and driven my share of POS vehicles. You don't NEED ac. You NEED brakes and tires and functional defrost. Literally everything else is secondary to those.

Put the defrost on and sweat and youll be able to see and be fine. Rain-x is priceless and should be mandatory IMO. You can get some of those stupid stick on window vent things so you can still crack the windows in the rain and run the defrost hard.

Went many years in louisiana with no AC. It sucks, but it builds character. Everyone should have a piece of shite no AC having might not start piece of shite in louisiana for at least a full calender year.

Good on you for seeing about yourself.
