Is being poor as awesome as the poliboard makes it sound? How many phones do you own? Do you get tired of people following you out to the grocery store parking lot to your Escalade?

I know I'm not feeding three kids and a big wife, but I can live pretty high on the hog spending $60k a year

Have you thought about downsizing a vehicle, get out from under a note? Share a vehicle with wife? Stuff like this?

My wife is from new Iberia. One BIL moved to Youngsville and the other is moving from the berry to there soon.

It seems pretty tough to carve out a living in new Iberia unless you can start a business, work at a bank, or work in the oilfield

I paid our last note on the family vehicle a month before being laid off. My work vehicle is just an old beat up blazer.

I don't know. If I had to move out of lafayette I'd rather be on some property in da berry than 10' from my neighbor in a cookie cutter neighborhood in youngsville

3 shootings in the last week is disturbing. I mean we won't get shot at but bullets can make funny bounces. One lady was shot and killed in her home a couple weeks ago by a stray bullet.

Coteau, Rynella, and Lydia are filled with meth heads. Loureauville is the best place out of all of them.

It took me 80% of my career to finally learn this. Saved hospitals millions of dollars. Over and over.Only be loyal to the degree to keep your job. Take any better job offered without hesitation. just be a yes man and do your job to the minimum.

This is good advice. Don't trust anyone. You never know when your friends, family, or even your own legs will betray you.

It doesn't pay to have loyalty and a hard working philosophy.

Kids, kiss arse and stab whoever you have to in the back to move up.

The new American way. I learned that lesson in graduate school while working as a temp contractor for HP. The HP employees were stretched thin with credit, and HP had been giving them stocks instead of bonuses and raises. The vast majority left their HP stocks alone (bc they had been rising). Then Fiorina came in and Angilent split and the stocks crashed and the HP employees went from a set retirement, to stocks worth pennies, and massive debts with ARM mortgages. More of us temp contractors kept showing up and the HP employees would say, "HP is downsizing so you contractors better be looking for new jobs. They are going to cut it back to just employees". Well they didn't, they laid off the seasoned lazy employees, hired more temp contractors, and moved the majority of HPs work to Canada Mexico and India.
