Alex Trebek, the host of Jeopardy! was just diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The 5 year survival rate of this disease is 9%. LINK

I talked to my aunt yesterday who had the exact diagnosis last year. As of today she is cancer free.

The 9% 5 yr survival rate is a very flawed statistic.

Eta- according to her doc last year, that stat for pancreatic cancer doesnt account for people who died from something else during that time period. Also people who declined treatment because they were already dying of something else. Also, there are treatments today that weren't available 5 years ago. Also the stat doesnt account the age at diagnosis, if the person 50 or 97. Lots of flaws in that stat.

Only on the oT can I get downvoted for saying my aunt recently beat cancer. And people wonder why chicken is trying to peel topics off this board to more subforums.
