For a family of 4 it’s easily 8-10k when you include air and lodging, gear, clothes, food and alcohol and lift tickets.

Ridiculous

I absolutelly love skiing. Have been going every mardi gras for over 30 years. The only thing I don't care for is trying to pull 2 inches of pecker through 4inches of ski clothes every time I need to take a leak.

My flights were booked with airline miles. Condo was 2k, lift tickets and rentals were 1k.

I figure we'll spend another grand or two on food, booze, rental car, etc. This is for 3 people so if I had to pay flights your estimate would be very close.

it does work. You are doing it wrong

I like skiing, don’t love it, but I love mountain beers and drinks. I love my kids having a blast. I love dinners after a long day skiing.

Lift lines have never been an issue for me, maybe the 7-8 times I’ve been I’ve gotten lucky

I don't get it. I think people like it because other people like it, and it's in a rich town so it's considered an elitest hobby. Not because they actually like it.

Love it. Don’t hate something because you suck at it. Either get better or just don’t go.

I like skiing. And when living in ga you have places like gatlinburg or Maggie valley that are real close.

And it’s not zero degrees there.

Also it’s cold as frick sitting in a deer stand or duck blind too.

The same thing can be said about any hobby or interest, particularly hunting, fishing, and following sports teams. Some folks take those pursuits WAY to seriously.

I often see some LSU groups when I’m out at Snowmass during Mardi Gras

Yall have the *perfect* ski holiday, one where you aren’t skiing and competing for lodging with the rest of America. I wouldn’t even mess with Xmas, Mlk if I could do a Mardi Gras trip.

trees and bumps are the most fun terrain to ski

I went skiing once. I didn't like it at all, but I still say going to the beach is worse.

None of my friends have a ski resort sticker on the back of their minivan.

my first trip around Christmas as this year and I was pleasantly surprised. Snow is better around Mardi Gras, and we go to Steamboat and it is packed on Mardi Gras

I moved out west for a job 3 years ago and learned to ski (1st time I ever put in skis was also 3 years ago) and I absolutely love it. I’m 41. I hate cold weather but with the proper gear it’s fine. Expensive as hell to get into but once you have the base stuff it’s no different than any other leisure sport like golf or tennis in terms of cost. Now I can’t imagine life without snow sports
