But, why the reverence of him?
His transgender insinuation?

He has some great songs, but I think he's mostly famous for being Mick Jagger's lover.

I just said he had some great songs. You're a mendicant.

What? He was a creative tour de force. He tapped into the feeling of generations.
If you don’t get Bowie you weren’t listening.

He would be a great voice in these uncertain times

Bowie’s big in Texas, I guess dying at the Alamo wasn’t bad for his popularity.

Re Bowie the weirdo
1. Bowie was a hippie
when he saw an unsigned band called Roxy Music and copied the dress style of their lead singer, Brian Ferry (I'd always assumed it was the other way around, lol)
2. He started wearing heavy makeup to cover his bad skin, which only got worse w/his increased drug use

Pretty amazing he wrote almost every single song by himself.

He was a true artist. He mainly applied his talents to the field of music but dabbled in other mediums. His edginess wasn't simply to be edgy. He did it to evoke thought, intro and extro spection.
Bowie was to music what some of the great painters were to canvas.
It's hard for those who did not live the times he did, the civil, social, economic, political times. Kind of like with the statues and stuff now. Some of those were artistic, some were historic, some had more local than national/regional meaning. Today those meanings are forgotten or social changes have rendered or changed those meanings. And so statues, generically, is all they are to some.

Wss before my time but I can appreciate. Its obvious to see his influence on lots of late 90s Nine inch Nails and Manson.
