13 min video? What is this shite? Are you one of those sovereign citizens? Dude, I just saw parts of this, but I know this. If you go around taking pictures of a FBI building you will be confronted. That just seems like common sense.

Imagine there being tons of stuff to do on New Year’s Eve and you decide to argue on the internet about a YouTube video.

Agreed, and if he was openly carrying a gun which is legal herre , I’m sure people on this board would argue that detaining him would be unlawful.

If you expect every officer to know every case law in the country federal and state you are delusional.

I have nothing else to do. Waiting anxiously for my dog to begin barking over fireworks while watching fakeporn of my favorite actress and sovereign citizen vids. Murica

Just a question, what if this guy was taking pictures of the building ?

Unfortunately, I'd expect the constitution to be followed if it applied to that fellow.

You guys seem to think that I am anti-leo. frick NO. That's a tough job, and I respect the hell out of the guys and gals in blue. However, I'm also able to be objective about the situation.

How many billions of dollars do we give our government each year? The police could easily snap a picture of the guy, upload it to some awesome arse facial recognition software, and retrieve his identity, without trampling on his rights.

Just like the FBI building and the officers, the guy would have no expectation of privacy while standing out in the public, and they could video his arse all the way to his house.

Look, I understand having the right to do this, but if you are videoing a FBI building... Looking suspect (which taking videos of a building of the Federal Bureau of Investigation can make you look suspect), you will be confronted. It's one of those things that you have the right to do, but you should realize that doing so could create some type of conflict.

It could be someone planning to attack the building and is taking pictures to help plan their attack.

If you can see it from a public space it’s not illegal to film or photograph. They can ask questions just like anyone else in public could but they can’t (legally) make you stop.

try that at Area 51, Ft. Knox, or even asking if you can go into an airliner cockpit and film the crew at work

I don’t expect every officer to know a Supreme Court decision. I would expect that someone of rank in the department would be aware of court decisions that affect policing and adjust policy and provide info to rest of department based on it.

I am sure if a decision came down which allowed police easier avenues to search a vehicle it would be quickly put into practice ny police.

I pulled into that parking lot while trying to find a doctors office that turns out was directly across the street from there. I had no idea it was FBI. Could have been me

The cockpit of a plane is not a public space. As long as you stay on public property you can film Fort Knox. There is no law prohibiting it.

Nope he’s right. They can ask you what your name is just like an ordinary citizen could. Again, you don’t have to answer, but your refusal could lead to reasonable suspicion depending on how you are acting and the circumstances surrounding the stop.

I am not defending the officer in this video, but I think some context may help some understand why he was on edge.

On July 17, 2016 (3) cops in this city were ambushed and assassinated. (5) more saw the same fate in Dallas a few weeks earlier.

Ask yourself, how paranoid/suspicious would you be if something as simple as going to get a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning was a death trap for people just like you.

so,this guy goes around taking pictures of building and looking for a response?

Seems like it.

I have it playing now, not watching it, but have the sound on. The officer tells him that he doesn't know if he (the dude videoing) has a weapon on him, is a convicted felon, etc and the jackass replies "why are you assuming the worst?". It's called safety you stupid fricking jackass.

If I saw someone standing in the street, in front of my house, taking pictures, videoing, etc.. I am going out there to see what's going on.. I am not going to "assume the best" and just think "he is probably just a good ole boy who likes to stand in the street and take pictures and video random houses, I am not going to assume he is some creep because I don't want to assume the worst".

This shite isn't journalism. It's creating a situation in order to get content that will get views.

Gotta love how all the boot lickers are so easily dismissive of your civil rights and the way the police trample over them.

The guy filming has a valid point and is doing the community a service.

He is the same as the douche bags that walk around with rifles slung on their shoulders to have an interaction with law enforcement.

The guy doing the video taping is a douche
