The Department of Homeland Security has published memos saying that photography of the exterior of federal buildings is allowed. Would you be upset if a cop gave you a ticket for driving 30 mph in an area posted as 30mph speed limit? Same thing.

this thing has really been beaten to death, guy was trying to provoke a reaction(rebel without a clue,) got one, cop was a douche as was the provoker, what was his point? I'm sure it's OK to take a pic of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., go set up a tri-pod with a kid's 7th grade science class 3' telescope on it pointed inward and let us know how that turns out, got to know what's worth falling on your sword over

There are other means of investigation if something creates some concern.

Can you give more info on these other means?

I agree. Everyone in this video is idiotic. The guy provoking cops is a dumb arse.

Regardless, there is no reasonable suspicion. A basic LEO cannot say, based on training and experience, a reasonably trained officer would believe a crime has, is or will be committed.

Just because it’s a bone head move and would raise red flags, doesn’t mean he has to follow officers request. He should of not been detained. He should of been free to leave at anytime.

Following the guy to his car, getting the registration. Registration is public information. The LEO could of obtained the registered owner and investigated the owner.

You mean like running a tag number, or asking other people questions or observing a possible suspect? How far do you want me to go? You think asking for a person's id is the only form of investigation?

In this particular instance (which doesn't really help because you are arguing and forming opinions without having watched the video), the officer simply could have allowed the guy to leave when he said he was leaving. If he truly thought he was up to something, he could have run his tags to see who he likely was and if there was then a reasonable suspicion of crime.

Are you actually arguing for liberty while simultaneously giving memos the force of law? Ermagerd, lol.

Listen, this guy is an addhole and was acting suspiciously.

The cop didn’t handle it very well though.

The officer should t have physically detained him but should have explained to him he had several questions that he had to answer and he could go on his way once they were answered. Under reasonable suspicion, you can ask questions as long as you can can ask relevant questions to your suspicion and then you have to let the guy go.

“Why were you filming this building”
“Have you filmed it before”
“What do you do with the footage”
“Have you done this with any other buildings”
“What other specific buildings”
“What did you find”
Etc, etc,etc

Write a very detailed report, escalate the report to a superior and go from there

but if someone reports "suspicious" activity the cop is bound to at least go inquire, no? I had a cop called on me the other night, was coming home from work the other day and noticed the city cutting down a beautiful oak on the side of the road on public property(in the middle of a very yuppie, pretentious, kept soccer mom area,) I know that they chip that up and haul it to a landfill so I go home and change, go over there to pick it up for firewood, it's just at the end of rush hour and getting dark, a cop pulls up, asks what I'm doing and I repeated what I just posted, "how are you transporting it?" (I had to park my truck about a 100' away to get off the street,) he asked where I lived and chuckled and said "then you know the area, I just had to check," I said I was pretty much done because I didn't think I could carry the last piece by myself, he said he thought the two of us could and told me to go pull my truck in front of his vehicle and he turned his lights on and helped me load in into my truck and said "have a nice night" would have less firewood if I'd acted like the constitution crusader in OP's story

Cops can talk to whoever they want. You can ask what a person is doing and other questions. But if they are not detained they legally don’t have to provide any information to you.

I have a feeling this guy has done something similar to this in the past. He's there to provoke them and get them to respond on Video.

I hate assholes like you. I stopped watching your lame video once I realized you were shooting video of a FEDERAL building. Remember the Oklahoma City bombing of the FBI building? Do you remember 9/11?

If you go around shooting video of FEDERAL buildings, you piece of shite, you deserve whatever happens to
I don't like commies like you. You should move to Russia or another socialist country where videoing federal buildings is illegal. He was not breaking the law even though he was just doing it to provoke those idiots.

The term suspicious is not a fact. It’s an opinion. The act of filming is suspicious, hence him questioning what exactly you are doing. Your response made it more suspicious.
Your response of not being from here and on your way to Jacksonville is even MORE suspicious. You bringing up the fallen officers more than once is extremely suspicious. One would think that you being detained for a short period of time without any harm to you, despite your behavior is a good outcome, if it means others safety is the reason why. And by the way, I would argue that you were the dick, not him.

Dude was asking for this to happen. Baiting for attention knowing filming an fbi bldg is going to cause questions. There are others on YT like this.

Why the hell does he need to be doing this for? Funny how if a fed bldg was attacked by terrorists, the leo would be blamed once all the "videos and pics" are found of the bldg that was used for planning.

Granted the leo shouldnt have crosed the line, but no reason for the guy to be there other than baiting for yt hits.
