If you're in a relationship, do you expect to talk to your s/o every day?

what is an average time per day you expect to interact with him/her?

what would you feel is a troubling amount in a day? week?

does phone, skype, personal, etc matter?

Your girlfriend doesn't like how clingy you are.

This can depend.

When I was physically not able to be in the same city, a phone call a day was sufficient. Texting random throughout the day was normal.

Talking just to be on the phone is troubling. Sorry but we are both busy and know we dont need to keep some communication to satisfy what people deem necessary for a relationship.

Hmm dont know what you are asking here. Explain more

Yes. But it depends on length of relationship. And type of relationship. I'm engaged so:

what is an average time per day you expect to interact with him/her?

Sleep next to each other, wake up, breakfast.

Then we go to work, random texts here and there and a phone call at lunch sometimes.

Home together after work until we go to sleep. Repeat

Trouble bc too little? Less than atleast once a day.

Trouble because too much? I don't know. If she annoys me I just quit responding till I see her again.

Married for 17 years, we barely say a word. If she calls me my heart drops because I'm thinking something is wrong.

I dont think of it as: "Okay, so do we plan to talk everyday? Or just on certain days at certain times?"

I think its not right to believe in a norm for this type of thing. The norm is very broad.

As long as you dont need to have 8 hours straight of talking everyday, or the opposite of that where you hardly ever talk to your SO, then you can just play it as you go. Talk to them when you feel up to, dont talk to them when you dont. If you really like the person, and you communicate well, then the amount of talking you do on a regular basis will be dictated by that exactly.

Either way. Its not a formula. Keep balance in your life of course. Aka, dont let the SO time overrun into killing your relationships with your friends, or take over your job etc.

Yes

Idk, average is based off weekends where a lot of time is spent together, weekdays where when we aare together its for a couple hours, and when we arent, we either phone or text for a bit

Idk probably when you spend every day together for hours even when youre both pretty busy unless you live together.

It matters but idk how to weight it.

I dated a girl that I would see for a couple hours every day after work. I usually wouldnt sleep over because I didnt sleep well there cuz her dog slept in the bed. She stopped seeing me because she said we didnt spend enough time together. I thought that was pretty crazy and didnt understand how people who work full time jobs and didnt live together could expect any more

The best relationships are the ones where they don't try to talk to you at all.

i agree. it's something i don't get and never have

people value the different types of interactions differently most often...like some people are all about being physically present and feel speaking on the phone is a failure of communication. some people are fine on the phone and don't have to be with the other person (obviously i mean just like day to day shite and not fricking. i know some people who don't see each other much outside of fricking but communicate pretty regularly)

texting used to be seen as putting somebody on a backburner but now seems to be the #1 preferred method of communication

publicity matters a lot to some people. hanging out is much more valuable if others get to see

I didn't see all of these other qualifications.

Are you asking to skype sometime?

As far as type of communication, I will say I hate texting for any conversation that requires thought or substance.

Day to day shite and making plans and stuff is fine, but trying to have a conversation about something important or substantive via text infuriates me

I think these 'needs' work themselves out between 2 people. i would like to think the balance needed naturally works itself out unless the relationship is headed for failure.

its just really easy to get a 5 minute convo completed in 2-3 sentences in a text. texting can also screw you because it has no tone or emotion.

This applies to people that arent in a serious relationship or just straight up shallow and simple altogether

If I'm working several nights in a row I may not see my husband until my next night off. If that happens I'll call him while I'm driving to work to say a quick hello, have a good night, love you. He hates talking on the phone so I've learned to keep phone chat to a minimum (which was a challenge cause I love I talk......which shouldn't shock anyone). He is usually busy at work so I never call him at work unless it's important.

I expect to be responded to or acknowledged in a reasonable time frame, but I don't have to be up my SO's butt 24/7.

And don't want to be.
