What like a magician or something?

Situational awareness is everything.

holds you up at gun point for all your belongings

I'm assuming you mean he gets his gun out pointed at you before you are aware of whats going on..

You're fricked. Your situational awareness was shite and now you're at his/her mercy. This ain't the movies, if someone has a gun pointed at you less than 1% of people could disarm the bad guy without getting a hole in them. You're best bet is to play along until you have no other option than to fight or die.

I was robbed by four guys in my garage. Two had guns drawn on me I played it cool. Grabbed my wallet tossed to my left and ran to my right as fast I could. It distracted one of enough for me to get out of my garage but I slipped and fell in a puddle and the other took some shots at me but missed. I got up an kept running. Next day I saw where the bullets had pancaked into the driveway right next to where I fell.

pretty easy when "Bob" doesn't have any arms or legs(although there have been cases of Billy Badasses getting a bloody nose because they didn't realize Bob can hit back,) gun still trumps those techniques

I’m assuming that means the person you’re training with allows you to take the weapon as opposed to fighting back when you go for it... yeah, of course it’s easy. Except that guy knows you’re about to do that. Some mugger on the street could be caught off guard, but of course the risk is great.

The only reason I brought up the being trained to disarm is it might give me an edge as opposed to a regular guy with zero training, but I still wouldn’t do it at all if I thought the guy was going to take my shite and go.

Yeah, the stuff I’m talking about is quite a bit different

The initial training we had to go through we went to “school” when I started, we got the shite beat out of us by the instructors. Was more intensive than using training dummies.

yeah, this training is meant for close confines where the perp, assumably, doesn't have a firearm, min required by the feds, the company does offer more in depth training courses, probably more like what you're talking about, to those interested, and of course FFDO courses too

Was mugged once on the corner of Napoleon and Fountainbleu. Young man had a gun pointed at my face, I froze. Four of his accomplices surrounded me, one holding a 2 x 4. The one with the gun said, give me your purse Bitch and I calmly handed it to him, they ran off. All 5 were wearing the exact same outfit, colors were Kelly green and white. Police caught them. The gun holder was 12 years old. I had PTSD after that for about 2 years.

My phone is encrypted and I only carry credit cards and an ID. I don't wear any jewelry. The dude might kill me anyway out of frustration for running into the most useless mugging target ever.

Let's say you are walking to your car one night, and a guy pops out of nowhere and holds you up at gun point for all your belongings.

This exact situation happened to me but it was 3 guys. Made me lie on the ground. Took my wallet and phone but didn’t want my keys. Didn’t rough me up. As soon as they were out of sight, a rage ignited inside me and I jumped in my car in pursuit of these thugs. I caught up to the car they were in but kept my distance. I was hoping to get a license plate read. I kept reaching for my phone to call 911 but it wasn’t there of course. They eventually got away by turning on a busy road. Went back home and called the cops. They eventually caught the thugs because I had a good description of their vehicle and it was also stolen.

That was about 15 years ago. I have often looked back on this and my actions and the “what if’s”. I honestly don’t remember being very scared as my mindset was that they would leave me alone after getting my stuff. Looking back on it scares me more. What if it was some gang initiation and they were supposed to kill me? What if the guy just did something stupid and shot me for no reason?

I don’t think fighting them was an option, weapon or not as they outnumbered me. I do regret pursuing them. That was dumb and I could have got myself killed. But I was young and my adrenaline was going insane and I wanted to get these assholes back.

I actually do wear a wedding ring, but if I told him he'd have to take the whole package to get that, I'm sure he'd leave it.
