If it's the kitchen, paint the room brown. That will cover the grease stains.

With stipled walls, a nice earthtone would improve the appearance of the room. Choose a medium to dark mud color with a very flat finish. Even a satin finish would accentuate the rooms imperfections. Go very flat finish.

Seems like they would have been pretty easy to move a little bit before covering them with a new wall
