I tripped hard on acid on 12/8/99 and then saw Rage Against the Machine on 12/9/99 in New Orleans. I have a recording of the show (one of their last shows before they broke up)
I also saw Primus at the State Palace that year.

I would be offshore on a Shell TLP.

My partying in 1999 (16 years old) included watching American Pie for the 57th time, lots of Mountain Dew, playing "topless" darts (but the chicks never agreeing to actually take their tops off when we hit bullseye), and listening to Third Eye Blind and POD

Dude, I seriously thought you were in your seventies, minimum. I guess I'm shitty at guessing posters ages, but every time I read one of your posts it sounds like grandpa Simpson in my head.
I'm an ole soul, that and a black man trapped inside a white man's body.

Completely agree

When I think of '99, I think of the end of tGOAT rave era at State Palace. Around the time they put age restrictions and started cleaning the place up if I remember right.
Dudes walking around that place with backpacks full of ex. Craziness and fun. There was a techno club on bourbon closer to Canal IIRC where we met some random chicks. One of the girls had a vibrator inserted as she was dancing and let us control the speed with her wired remote control.

Listening to 1999 this morning got me to thinking about how I partied in 1999. For me, random whores, Jack Daniels, and pills. Good times!
Honestly, in 1999 I thought only girls did pills

The song was from 1982. So that was even more different time. shite. Disco was finally dying.

I remember partying, listening to that song and thinking how far in the future 1999 was.
Yep. That seemed very futuristic at the time.

1999: trying to download music off Napster or Kazaa while guy friends played FIFA world cup, grand turismo, or some 007 game on N64.
2016: watching some random TV show on my DVR while trying to find all the Legos or Candyland pieces my 5 y/o tossed everywhere.
1999: waiting till at least 930 to go to a club or bar (whatever the current name of the gay bar was just off Highland, or Triple A, or sometimes some gay club in Nola--I had gay friends who liked to dance).
2016: If I leave my house at 930 PM now, it's probably on fire.
1999: waking up at a friend's house at 6 am after a long night, trying to get into the bathroom to pee, but someone locked the door then passed out inside, and someone else threw up on the door bc it was locked, and you just accidentally touched the puke. GROSS. So you wash your hands in the kitchen, debate peeing in the sink, then fix yourself a screwdriver.
2016: waking up at 6am and changing the sheets off your 3 y/os bed for the 3rd time this week because she insisted she could sleep without a diaper, and against your better judgement you believed her. Fix yourself some coffee and turn on paw patrol.
I'll take 2016 any day.

I ignored the 1999 thing, since factually the millennium didn't change until 2001

First year out of grad school...last year before parenthood. It was a very fun year...but I wouldn't trade it for now. Life is good in the present.
