You're right, they'd never tax Roth IRA withdrawals or other investment vehicles, or just straight up repatriot my accounts if needed.

Yes, It's a known fact that people in Greece purchase cars that they can't afford, and that was the downfall of Cypriot.
For the record, anyone with up to 100,000 euros in the bank were insured and didn't lose money. In the U.S., it's 250,000 insured per account.
