My only bill was my annual property tax bill which was around $100.

Did the generator run on rainbows?

What taxes are you still responsible for and why?

Roughly $300 a year for a fair amount of land.

Because the government sucks.

If you want to minimize your tax load get a bunch of land, set up your own farming and live stock, put a big arse solar setup with storage, get an EV and I think you can get down to just paying property taxes.

I once moved from Boynton Beach , Fla to the Ozarks in Arkansas. While my house was vacant in Fla, they sent me bills for water and trash pickup despite no one in house. I called about it and they told me it was a "city ordinance". When i gave them a forwarding address of "Arkansas", the woman said ,"Why would you move to Arkansas???"" I said, "there ain't no city ordinances"

Living Off grid not = living off land

quote:

Off Grid simply means you are completely disconnected from the local city/county electrical grid. That’s it. Some folks’ definition extends to complete independence and self reliance including building your cabin, growing your own food, producing your own energy and water, and being 100% self sufficient. Basically, what many people consider truly free.

Guessing OP meant both?

OP asked questions about taxes. My response was to that question.

However, we had a 500 gallon propane tank that was full when I bought the property and in 5 years I owned the property I never had to refill it.

So, in essence, I never paid for running the generator.
