(I'm asking those who do)....

Have you placed your hand on your firearm in a visible way to another person? Have you ever drawn your firearm? Have you ever used your firearm? Would you share any of those scenarios if you have?

It's something I'm considering, but would like to know more from those who have.

Is this a safety thing or a power thing?

I can honestly say that I've never been in a situation in my life where I've thought that having a loaded gun would help my cause.

Yes.

I have repositioned my body so that I could (a) draw easier if need be and (b) increase separation distance from my family so they’re not on the line of attack.

I’m waiting to get mine from the state. Paperwork is done so should have mine in a few weeks. Having a gun on me will feel odd. Probably won’t carry too often bc I don’t go to many dangerous and exciting places. I always keep a gun in my vehicle though. I’m more worried about a road rage incident than getting mugged at HEB.

No. If I ever have to draw it, I will use it. I hope to never be put in that kind of situation.

If you are asking me, why I might consider this, it is definitely a safety thing. I'm just at the stage of researching to understand if it is the right thing for me as a person.

crime can happen anywhere. It is better to have a weapon and not need it than to need it and not have it.

It’s a safety thing. Congrats on never feeling threatened.

I have had my hand on it but I always retreat. I will never be the aggressor. I know you didnt ask that specifically but I always retreat. The day my life or my families life is in danger of grave bodily harm or imminent death then and only then I draw and do work.

I would argue having a weapon on you at all times would seek out more danger than protect you from it.

My philosophy is you draw as last resort. If it appears it is likely to be used and needed. If you just reach for it threaten etc the other person could take it from you and shoot you with own gun or draw their own faster. If mine comes out it is drawing blood.

It helps, as I was walking back to my truck in New Orleans two guys approached me and told me to give them my keys. My door was open and my CC was right there. So I was able to grab it and when I threw them the keys I was able to point it at them.

Without it i lose some possessions maybe worse idk, with it I was able to make a police report and drive home that night.

Road rage dude came to my door and opened it with a knife in his hand. I didnt raise my firearm. But was at the sul position. Not gonna lie I was a little shaky after. Really thought I was gonna have to shoot the retard.

For sure. You’re not wrong. Just a foreign feeling to have a gun on me while I’m out running errands or whatever. I like having it near when I’m doing things like pumping gas.

So do you leave your gun in the vehicle if you run into a store? I'd feel better about just brining it with me, the outside chance my car is burglarized, I do not want it stolen.

If that’s your mindset then you don’t have the right temperament to carry and I’m glad you don’t.

I usually just carry my M249 on a patrol sling.
