When you get a performance based bonus at work do you pay it forward to your personal service people?

For instance, you get a 20% performance. Do you reward your housekeeper, yardboy, masseuse with a little something extra since they helped you operate at peak performance and not be brought down by certain tasks.

Negative

I get paid for my work, and they get paid for their work.

If they go above and beyond, they can get a bonus regardless of my change in salary.

I gave my yard guy and cleaning lady raises this year on account of inflation. It had nothing to do with my bonuses.

No, but I also think a lot harder about keeping them as gas prices go up.

I got one of those Covid stimulus checks. Paid it and more forward by increasing my lunch tips. Sorry for causing the inflation.

I've never understood this. Why does it not just get rolled into the salary? I always feel like I'm missing something when I hear about mandatory bonuses

My guess is that it could be an industry that has pretty considerable turnover. They put the bonus at the end of the year to entice people to stay the entire year. The deal also probably has a clause in it that requires repayment of that bonus if you leave within 6 months of receiving the bonus.

Usually as retention mechanism and the bonus has language in it that allows company to withhold should the company have a very bad fiscal performance

Babysitter gets a small bonus every time I get a bonus.

Trustworthy at home childcare is hard to find. Gotta keep ‘em happy

True. However, at my level it’s not as a considerable turnover. And I enjoy a solid 20k at the end of the year.

Hell no. My quarterly bonuses combined are more than my base salary.
