I had a conversation with a teacher friend yesterday. Every bit of positive news/studies about corona I would present, she would shoot down with feelings and emotions.
And we’re telling you that’s the minority.

Who is complaining? Besides refuting idiots who don't teach but think they know what teaching encompasses

And I wouldn’t sit around trying to tell some plant baw how to do his job because I don’t know dick about it.
The large majority of plant baws are not government employees who's job is reliant upon taxpayer dollars.

Just like teachers know they will work and get paid for 182 days out of the year
But people seem to think teachers are gifted their profession and somehow luck out with all that unpaid time off

Let me correct myself with some data...61.3% of Louisiana students get free or reduced lunch.
61.3%.
That’s from the Center for Education statistics.

God this state is flat arse broke.

No you don't have a clue

I don't have kids.
Thank God
You’re taking a few bad apples and stereotyping education as whole. Teachers have degrees, families, and arguably more patience than any work force.
I can’t imagine keeping up with the kids of some of these parents, especially the younger age kids. Loser parents

According to many in the profession, they work a solid 350 days per year.

While there are shitload of poor kids in this state, that 61% might be a bit skewed because some parishes received district wide free lunch for 4 years because of the 2016 floods

Well it is one of those 2 way streets...teachers get out what they put into it and that might include prepping during time off and I don't feel sorry for those that complain from that angle

Before federal money gave free lunch to all students, my school was at 88% free/reduced.

That’s a good point. You could really argue that teachers are overpaid. Only working 182 days a year they should make even less than they are making now.

All I want is to be back in my high school math classroom 5 days a week and teaching my normal amount of kids. Parents should have one of two options:
1) 100% in person learning
2) 100% home based schooling program
This hybrid mixture shite is going to be a clusterfrick of epic proportions, especially for us teachers. frick that. It should be all or nothing like I presented.

Well they should be paid more since that that 182 is paid out over 12 months instead of 10 months.... I'm ok with a pay raise to deal with the kids you don't want to

Idiot.
Drug using family, neglected kid, zero dinner or reading at night. But, muhhhh, teachurzzz, even though the parents are shite, and it’s an everyday battle for the school to help the kid.
Just leave this thread. You look completely ignorant.
