Hands down, New Orleans. Everything is within walking distance to the superdome, french quarter, etc. The Superdome has hosted national championships, final fours, super bowls, wrestlemania... it's the best tourist city in the country, I have no doubt the superdome could handle a capitol too....

DC isn't anywhere near a foreign border and is protected from attack via the Atlantic Ocean by the strongest navy in the history of the world (as in, all navies in history COMBINED).

The only possible way the US would ever be destroyed militarily is if we were hit with a surprise nuclear attack. Those brave, or stupid, enough to try can reach every inch of our soil (aka the russians). So you tell me, where would a safe spot strategically be against that?

East St. Louis or Camden, NJ and force a city limit residency requirement.

I'd give New Orleans something almost cabinet level. Maybe DHS or something from Department of Labor.

I'd give Baton Rouge OSHA.

Size, Infrastructure and Strategy - the realistic answer would be Denver.

Mountains make any invasion difficult and you build bunkers in the mountains to stay safer from bombing.

And it is mostly centrally located.

Guam, so from time to time, when it got too bloated, the island could capitalize and drain the swamp...

Move all 240 people out of Western, Nebraska.

Give the White House its own county

Yep. If we were to magically re-draw the political infrastructure map for the United States today, Denver is the best choice.

It also has the additional perk of perhaps orienting us economically and politically a little more towards the Pacific.

To make invasion really difficult....split as much as you can over every state in the union.
