Just a random guess tells me that the Russians might even take a crack at those convoys while they are crossing the Atlantic too. That pulls how many air assets away from Europe so they can fly cover over them, as well as anti-sub stuff? It would not be good.
our navy would destroy the Russian navy

Absolutely. The Russian Air Force would be there too, but they would get mauled pretty badly. You'd have to think they would try though. Big, fat targets that will change the war if they make it where they're headed are too good to pass up.
ETA: We'd better hope they don't get their caterpillar drives up and running again either. Otherwise, Terd's chasing magma displacements all over the ocean again.

This I why I can never see another world war happening. Nothing to gain and everything to lose. Russia could start some shite but if they did with any part of Europe we care about they would have to deal with us...and everyone else.

Russia's strength is its number of tanks, air defense forces and ballistic missiles. Our Navy and Air Force are 20× better than theirs.

Humans are very warlike creatures. We'll all fight again one day, I have no doubt. Hopefully, not for a good while. The Pax Americana has made it long overdue though. Lots of bad blood out there in the world.

I agree that our navy is still heads and shoulders above anything the Russian's can throw at them. But were it come to war in Europe our navy would be tied down keeping the shipping lanes between the U.S. and Europe open and escorting the massive convoys it would take to move a sufficient ground force to counter the Russians move into eastern and central Europe.
And here's the catch 22 when it comes to convoys. Without them, individual transport ships would be helpless prey to Soviet attacks. This means we'd have to form convoys just like we did in both world wars. But the problem here is that now convoys in the open ocean are a big fat juicy target for long range tactical nuclear attack. All the Russians would have to do is launch a battery of long range tactical nukes at a convoy and even if only one or two get through, the losses to that convoy would be devastating.

Insert "Not sure if serious" meme.
You really don't know anything about the military, do you?
Please explain to us how you carpet bomb with "drones", aka UAVs/UASs/RPAs.
I'll wait.

If they nuked all those boys from Ft Campbell on the water, I feel that would be the ballgame, from a planetary perspective.

Lol. America doesn't have the stomach for total war.
Yea right. That's exactly what the Japanese told themselves when they decided to bomb Pearl Harbor. Fact.
They were wrong.

Yes, yes, I like the direction you are taking the thread much better now

Well, the boys from Ft. Campbell (101st Airborne) and the boys from Ft. Bragg (82nd Airborne) would be flown over. It's the boys from places like Ft. Bliss (1st Armor), Ft. Hood (1st Cav), Ft. Riley (1st Inf), Ft. Carson (4th Inf), Ft. Stewart (3rd Inf), Ft. Drum (10th Mtn) that would be on the boats.
As for how we'd react, that's a good question. If we replied with a nuke strike of our own of a similar target, say their ground formations moving through eastern Europe, that would lead to a domino effect that ended with an exchange of ICBM's on each other's major population centers. Would we risk that?

Why does the Russian one have an Italian flag on her shoulder and a non-Kalashnikov rifle?

I like your thinking. But Sweden is not a member of NATO.
Also, one more thing. This girl here....
... is Italian, not Russian. Still fine as hell though.

Double agents. Russians have them in every war.

Russia has never invaded Europe and has never had designs to do so. Back in 2006 -07 before the global recession things were so good between Moscow and Brussels there was talk about a NEW European Union with Moscow being a partner. Europeans don't fear the Russians. They never have. Americans on the other hand do. Ask an average German or Frenchie and they'll tell you, they fear the invasion that is currently happening in their countries right now, not that Russian tanks are going to stroll down the strasse.
