Sorry, I thought this whole thread was based on unrealistic scenarios, like Russia invading a NATO nation.

That's all their is to a war, invading. Not like you have to hold the land or anything.

Russian deaths would be enormous

You actually said what I did. The only problem is that I was being incredibly facetious. Wow.

ETA: How many superdrones can you load on a supersonic Air force transport? Tanks? Munitions? Food? Troops?

You and Darth both think if Russia started invading Europe they would conquer the continent without resistance from any European country and the United states would be powerless to do anything at all?

And I'm the idiot?

Question: If yall THINK Russia is that powerful and advanced, do you also belive the leader of North Korea shoots an 18 regularly when golfing?

Because that's how they've been fighting in Ukraine right?

Its a good thing we announced yesterday that we were quadrupling are European defense budget.

No, I'm just curious as to how we're going to get all that awesome firepower over there.

shite you're right.

And it takes what 5-6 months to send stuff over there?maybe one day we'll invent a faster mode of transportation than a sail boat, but for now we have to put our supersonic aircrafts and drones on sail boats and row them accross the ocean.

This tells me you're completely clueless of the logistical requirements it would take to move even a corps sized formation into Europe. Back in the 80's we use to do an exercise every few years called REFORGER. You should look it up and take a look at what all goes into moving the massive amounts of men, equipment, and supplies that would be needed.

(BTW, we'd need probably two or even three corps to counter a full scale Russian invasion of Eastern Europe.)

You are vastly overestimating Russia and underestimating countries like the UK and Isreal.

Go look at the balance of forces between the Brits and Russia. It's not even close. Not only do the Russians have more than the Brits, a good chuck of their stuff is as modern or even more modern in may areas. As for Israel... What role in a eastern European war do you think they'd play? How would they even project power to that region?

quote:

I have not once sold drones were invincible. They're expendable and useful.

They're great TACTICAL weapons as long as they're operating over airspace with complete air supremacy. To try and use them over contested airspace is a waste of time because they're so vulnerable. They'd be hacked out of the sky before any could reach their targets.

quote:

Comparing a massive movement out of Russia to conquer countries in Europe to ISIS? and you calm me dumb?

ISIS is not a massively powerful and concentrated modern military force invading a country. It's small little pockets of guerilla warfare.

The Russians won't fight like ISIS. They'll go with a show of power and massive force. Bigger target, easier to hit.

Bigger target yes. Also a target with a very capable and very modern air defense. A target with massive formations of quite modern tanks, mobile artillery, and mechanized infantry. As things stand right now today. If the Russians moved into eastern Europe, our only hope of stopping them before they reached probably the middle of Germany would be to resort to tactical nukes. And I doubt our leaders are willing to accept the answer to such a move that would be forthcoming from the Russians.

Again, you are drinking Russia's kool-aid by the gallon.

You think they'd conquer Every country up to Germany before we even had a chance to slow them down? Be realistic dude.

Russia borders the Baltics. The US is thousands of miles away. I fail to see how this is a surprise.

Could Russia stop the US from taking Mexico or Cuba?

You know, there were a lot of people making that same argument in 1938. Surely to God, The German Nazi regime would not dare to invade a sovereign Nation on their border under the pretense that they were just taking back what they considered to be rightfully theirs. It would bring the wrath of the world down upon them. Until they did......and Czeckoslovakia found itself in the German wheelhouse. Not many thought they would carry through with that threat.....until they did.

Again, go read up on "REFORGER". Here, I'll even give you a link....

LINK

BTW, these massive exercises were done when we had over two corps worth of troops in Europe and involved moving like two extra divisions from the U.S. to Europe. Care to guess what forces we keep in Europe now? It's one armored cavalry regiment in Germany and one airborne infantry brigade in Italy. Thus, in a modern day REFORGER, instead of trying to move a couple of divisions to Europe, we'd need to move about six. Imagine the nightmare of trying to embark that many men and their equipment. Then imagine trying to disembark all that in Europe after it crosses the Atlantic. It would take months if not over a year to pull off.

I was unaware the RAND Corp was a Russian entity.

I am. What formations are currently in Europe that could stop a full scale Russian invasion before they reached the Rhine? Hell, before they reached Paris if they wanted?
