Got it. The video I watched showed it was on the plotted course to and from the murder scene and he supposed that’s where the suspect decided to turn off his phone to prevent tracking unaware of the multiple security cameras still recording him beyond that point. He turn it back in somewhere near that point on his return, as well.

I guess but it would be hard to explain the security cam footage of his vehicle driving past the residence several times just prior to the murder then pulling in to park at the time of the murder and leaving immediately after the roommate witness said the killer left the scene.
The security cam footage just picks up a white elantra. From what we know so far, they were not able to get a license plate. His defense attorney's job is to sow doubt in the jurors' minds. There are probably thousands of white elantra's within a 30 miles radius of the killing.
This is made a bit more difficult because the white elantra on video did not have a front plate, but again, that's not a smoking gun.
I expect they will find the victim's DNA and blood in his car and that will be the final nail in his coffin.

I think for the sake of argument I should clarify that he could have disposed of any number of pieces of evidence along the 1700 mile journey home not just the knife. Time and distance give him ample opportunity.
Definitely. A more easily overlooked piece of evidence like his socks? Stop at a gas station and throw them away in a paper bag with other garbage. He wouldn't expect anyone to find it (although in this case the FBI was watching him - which is another reason to ditch evidence earlier).

Maybe at trial he'll stand up and say, "Y'all thought it was a Ka-Bar but really it was a Ranger. Haha jokes on yall suckas."

The timing of the door dash is interesting. I wonder if during his stakeouts, he realized someone ordered door dash a lot around that time of night and thought that if he did the killing immediately after the delivery, cops would try and pin it on the delivery driver. The time between the delivery and the murders is strangely close.
Maybe. I tend to think he just bit off more than he could chew. There’s just so many different variables that could come up that he couldn’t account for going into a house with that many people. I think he probably did plan it pretty well—or as well as he could have—but shite came up he wasn’t expecting, and with the adrenaline he must have had going, he wasn’t able to think straight, calmly adapt, and fully cover his tracks.

Baldona needs to invest the time in reading the full affidavit and also watching the video plotting the camera footage and phone pings that Hot Carl posted pages back.
It’s tedious watching because, as he reads each point in the affidavit, he pulls up google earth to add the point of footage/pings but I just fast forwarded through his bumbling until he found the correct location each time and added the marker then picked up from there.
I strongly prefer narrations that are time efficient and straight to the point, though, so it was probably especially irritating to me thus the FF strategy while watching. The end picture, though, is pretty complete and very damming.

I believe they said there were 90 white elantras on the Idaho campus and they didn't get a plate.
Only thing that you can point to is no front plate which isn't concrete.

I'll honor this. Won't post again in this thread.
Can you tell me what I said was so wrong? I don't understand how suggesting just because it was a Ka-Bar sheath doesn't make it 100% a Ka-Bar knife that was used. I would certainly hope the police aren't only looking for that specific knife.

As you post again.
Such a child.

Sadly he told Chicken he read it 2 times yesterday. There's no hope for him.

Yes, but matched with camera footage of his vehicle leaving his campus, camera footage of that Elantra matching pings on the route leading to the Moscow (although cutting out when he turned up his phone) with more camera footage of an Elantra continuing the route without pings to the murder location. Then, the same footage leading the same way back, pings picking up again when he turned his phone back on exactly matching where footage is still tracking the Elantra and both pings and footage showing the Elantra arriving back on his campus at the same time.
Incredibly damning.

“Wouldn’t they just have to pose as the normal garage pickup”
I suppose so but the fact they had video of him putting garbage in neighbor’ s trash cans at 4:00 AM has me thinking they had eyes on the house 24 hours a day.Just seems like it would be hard to pull off 24 hr /day surveillance for several days from the pictures I saw of the neighborhood.
As I said, not really pertinent to the investigation.I was just impressed with the sleuthing they pulled off.

Except when they announced they were looking for a Ka-Bar style knife about 3 days after the murders.
I think he realized he left it. He was toying with people on Facebook and even stated on 11/30 he thought cops found a sheath.
I am also going to go out on a limb and I won't be surprised if they find the knife. Not in a wooded or river type area - I just feel he is so sick and twisted he held onto it in some capacity like a souvenir.

I agree that it's incredibly damning, but it's still circumstantial. Like I said, I think the thing that will ultimately put him away is when they find blood in his car. It doesn't matter how thoroughly he thinks he cleaned it, there will be blood in there. If not, then the defense has another arrow in their quiver to sow reasonable doubt.

The circumstantial evidence alone should be enough for a jury to convict even without any blood in his car

If they don't find blood in his car, I think a conviction becomes much more difficult. That gives the defense pretty good ammunition. They can roll "expert" after "expert" up on the stand to talk about how much blood would be expected after stabbing four people to death and how it is almost statistically impossible for there to be no trace of blood in his vehicle.
