I'm partial to Body Armor mixed at a precise ratio of 1:1 with H2O. Blackout berry and Gold berry FTW.

I ended up in the hospital last year for the same thing. Went in for somewhere between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Had to stay overnight cause my heart was doing all kinds of fluttery stuff and I had lost all appetite, along with feeling run down and nauseous.

2 and half IV bags later I felt much better and started to feel normal. Didn't really get over it until about 3 days later. You don't bounce back from shite like you used to when you are in your 40's.

YeAh there are more people back home now but there is also more help. There is food as long as you have a way to get to the distribution location. Some people don’t have reliable transportation or their vehicle was damaged in the storm.

Hopefully the gas situation will continue to get better so that people can relax and just focus on cleanup and getting enough to eat.

I’m tired of sweating
We got power back fairly quickly but so much to do for so many people
Felt light headed today for the first time and had to take a break

Hydration is achieved thru nutrition.

Drink water before , during and after work.

Eat well. Rest. Take breaks. Vitamins also are a plus

I was drinking a 16 ounce water bottle every 45 minutes or so. I think I drank 10 bottles today and I still feel dehydrated.

It’s also important to hydrate the day before

On days where I do a lot of work outside I like to eat a lot of watermelon. Keeps me from getting too full and also hydrates at the same time

If you’re drinking water the day of hard labor like that it’s usually too late. Need to hydrate up the night before

The amount of sugar in these is staggering.

They are delicious though.

It’s next to impossible in this heat to stay hydrated if you have to work outside for any amount of time.

Hydration begins the night before. Drinking water or Pedialyte before you go to bed will help you tremendously. Once you start working and sweating, it’s hard for the body to actually hydrate.

Also, you need salts (Sodium and Potassium) for a water molecule to cross a cellular membrane. Stated another way, a bottle of Gatorade for every 2-3 bottles of water.

A coworker (she was 31, no pics) had a heat stroke and thankfully recovered but she wasn’t the same person after. Her motor skills and speech were greatly impaired.

I found this stuff called Biolyte, IV in a bottle, and have been drinking it before clean up and water during. My energy level is through the roof! A lot more electrolytes than pedialyte. I highly recommend it.

I was there, but I knew what to do. Fluids and forced myself to eat a snack. Same effect as the IV, just not nearly as fast. I caught it early, if I wouldn't have stopped it could have gotten bad. Told my BIL it was break time and just left him at the fence and the womins got me a snack.

There were several great related deaths after Laura.

I got scared at one point fixing my dad's roof two days after the storm when I got in a bind. There is no medical care to be had and no one to come get you. It got real quick.

I was sick before the storm and had to give blood and gets ivs. I had to patch dad's roof one side at a time then go sit in my truck in front of AC.

To me a couple days to recover.

3:1 ratio water to Gatorade.

Yes electrolyte imbalance can lead to AFib which can cause blood clots. Especially if you blood is thick from dehydration. Ask me how I know...

Put some electrolyte tablets in your water every once in a while. They’ll help. Take a break occasionally. You can’t keep up with the water you’re losing so take it easy. Be careful if wearing evaporative cooling clothing because you won’t realize how much you’re really swearing. There’s been times when I’ve drank many ounces of water and don’t piss a single time.
