I was in N.O. Friday and Saturday. Jeebus, they were turribly trashy. Looks like they took Amtrak or they drove to town cause I don't know how they could afford to fly.

I've been in New Orleans since Friday evening. I have seen them everywhere and they have been generally pleasant. They have been getting ripped on and have taken it all in stride with smiles.
Yesterday I watched a Raider fan chase down a hotel worker to give him back his wallet. I'm sure they have some shitty ones, but I haven't come across them yet.

The amtrak actually isn't really much if at all cheaper than flying. It's just if you want to take a train. Some people prefer the experience. More room. Scared of flying. Whatever. That dude's point is stupid all around.
I just looked up prices. Flying is actually $100 cheaper than Amtrak for one way to Oakland.

Don't be worried. The bay area is one of the best places to live in the country. Just stay out of east Oakland, East Palo Alto, and Richmond and you'll be fine.
