I don’t know for sure, but id guess with the rapid expansion of online shopping and amazon prime, they’re left scraping the bottom of the barrel and hiring former USPS employees.

I ship packages everyday with my business. I have used all the major carriers at one time or another. We get better service from the USPS than any other carrier by far

I think this is highly dependent on who works your area. Comes down to the caliber of people employed by your local post office.

The USPS hub for New Orleans and the Lakeview post office is way, way, way worse than the one on the North Shore and the post office in Lacombe.

My mom in Lakeview receives packages from USPS at about the same rate as I do in Lacombe and her packages go missing, are poorly delivered or are damaged on the regular. I on the other hand, haven't lost a package or had one damaged in over 6 years to my house in Lacombe.

My USPS driver in Lacombe is a contract driver not a direct employee and when I'm home I always run out and grab it from him so he doesn't have to get out of his truck and I make small talk, so that might have something to do with it. That at least could explain differences in delivery service but I think when it comes to the differences between the two locales in sorting, that solely rests on the difference in the quality of the people they hire in the two locations

As a former UPS driver this typically happens for one reason. Once the driver reaches the delivery destination he goes to the back of the truck to look for the package. Sometimes it’s simply not there and has been mis-loaded onto another truck. This would explain why the driver drove away. Believe me… The driver wants to get the package off of his truck so that it doesn’t get added to his delivery schedule The following day. Classifying the stop as a mis-load is A service failure and a no-no with UPS and FedEx. This explains why the driver or supervisor marked it as a un-deliverable due to weather.

What happens when the mid-load happens on days it isn’t raining when you can’t use the weather as the excuse to cover up the frick up

I have submitted no less than 4 videos to the USPS in the past year of my fat ARSE carrier puling up to my mailbox, filling out a certified letter receipt, putting "no answer" on the reason it was undeliverable, dropping it in my mailbox and driving off without ever getting out of the truck. USELESS.

FedEx was to bring a package to my office. Coworkers saw the truck pull up out front, park a while, then leave without the driver ever getting out. I hit up their customer service folks on Twitter. Next time FedEx came, it was a new driver.

Ahhh, yes. The tale of two ideologies of nationwide division.

When the government runs things you get the first story above.

When a private company is involved and you let the free market decide you get the second story above.

Accountiblity.

A concept lost on half our population in this country

Had a UPS delivered a heavy package one time. They put it on the hood of my truck. The truck was dirty and they slid it across the hood, scratching the shite out of the paint. Was pissed and called them. They paid for the damages to have the hood repainted but I had to fight them to do so.

Bear in mind that what I described is not a standard company practice but it happens. A lot depends upon the quality of the employees as well as the supervisor. As a driver we were told to call in any mis- loaded packages that were on our truck… If it was within a reasonable distance we were required to leave our delivery zone and go deliver it. There are some guys , Like myself, that didn’t mind doing this because I loved the overtime. Other drivers were less enthusiastic and would try to find ways to avoid the issue. A driver might get away with this from time to time but UPS is all knowing and all watching and it would eventually catch up with the driver to include a reprimand of some sort. Let me assure you though that if the package is on the right truck and the driver comes to the stop he will deliver or at least make an attempt to deliver the package. There is no benefit to not deliver it at that point.

I work in shipping, both UPS and FedEx pull this crap regularly. It is always some BS excuse, but the drivers have gotten lazy over the last few years.

Was it an Amazon package? I'm sure somehow this is Amazon's fault. Has to have something to do with Amazon.

No, this is definitely the USPS. I'm sure some mail employee in Georgia is enjoying the Fire Stick I ordered several weeks back. I ordered it on a Saturday afternoon. It left north ATL on Sunday night before the CFP championship game. Never arrived in Alabama. It was scheduled to be delivered on that Tuesday. I contact Amazon, they give me a generic response to wait another couple of days. So Thursday rolls around and the tracking still just shows it left ATL, nothing more. I log into my Amazon account, and there is now a link on my Orders page under this order to request a replacement. It was overnighted by UPS from Texas and was on my doorstep before 10 AM on Friday. Many like to bash Amazon, but they did that as well as extend my Prime for another month, all because of the stupid USPS not being able to work like a private business would.

I was so confused when I got this update from USPS as the reason for my delayed
delivery:

quote:

Carrier is unable to gain access to the front door to deliver the package. Please contact the carrier to resolve
New Orleans, LA

Two days in a row my front door was apparently guarded by an imaginary force field. I finally heard the USPS employee come to the door on Monday and asked what the deal was.

Apparently they are now being required to go back to the hub by 6:45PM or something like that. So according to my carrier if the packages aren’t delivered before then they are marked with this “update”.

She seemed like she was trying her best and dealing with the “messed up post office”. Ha I actually have it all on my doorbell camera and made sure to review it because I was so confused with her response.

watched the delivery truck come down the private lane and pull in to the driveway. The driver never got out and he backed out and left.

I'm thinking you meant watched him through your doorbell camera. If not, why didn't you just go outside and get your package from him.

UPS did this to me a while back. I was sitting my fatass in my recliner all day for a package that had to be signed for. Never a knock, never a doorbell ring. Checked tracking at like 8 pm and the status was changed to delayed because nobody was there to sign. Flaming fricking redass. I jumped some poor girl's shite at the Port Allen office, which I am sure she gave zero fricks anyway.

A package was delivered by UPS to my house for a previous owner. I've called UPS twice already to reject the package and have them come pick it up. It's been escalated and I was supposed to be called back within an hour from my local delivery station. Haven't heard a thing and it's been about 2 weeks from the initial call.

This appears to be more common in all service related jobs

All joking aside, this is what happens when unemployment is so low. When unemployment is at 10%, you've culled many of the shitty employees, and the ones with a job are grateful.
