The government doesn't readily track (for the public) how many Americans they detain (sometimes by force) by accident/incorrectly. It's pretty well known they operate on a grab and sort it out later process though (surely you won't deny that).

We do know that are plenty of unconfirmed reports out there of them detaining folks incorrectly.

I think the larger issue is that you damn near only need to be a warm body to be an ICE agent these days. And as we've seen in police departments as they've lowered their standards, that doesn't exactly attract the type of individual that would use good judgement on a tool like in OP. That shouldn't be a D or R concern.

I mean, I'm not getting info from Reddit. A general internet search will show a lot of local outlets reporting in their area where they've spoken with people.

You have to utilize unconfirmed reports because there is no official public "data" being released. That's a purposeful government tactic to conceal numbers (and not exclusive to this administration or the federal level either).

The issue is whether it's more than just a few broken eggs. And the 8th Amendment applies to non-citizens as well. History has very much let us know that if they're willing to get away with violations with the lowest common denominator, it will eventually escalate up the scale to born and bred American citizens.
