another comparison: the Indians (dot) on H-1B Visas that we hire as contractors for 12-15 months to do basic analyst problem solving work.....are in the same tax bracket as IBM BR new hires.
Let that sink in. Gupta, fresh off an airplane and weeks since his last shower, who likely lied on his resume and can hardly speak English....making as much as a LSU/ULL/Southern/SouthEastern/etc grad with a CS/ISDS degree. What a fricking tragedy

Are you comparing contractor pay to salaried pay with benefits?

The Louisiana baw will get paid more after a few years if he proves competent. If IBM doesn’t pay him more, he’ll leave.
H1B workers are typically afraid to ask for raises or risk losing sponsorship. They make about $60K. In a few years Gupta will still make $60K.

Experienced SAP people with some industry knowledge make legit OT money.
If there are SAP people in the Baton Rouge office, that’s a pretty good place for an LSU grad to start.

The best career track there is learning Workday or Salesforce and moving towards their acquired partners (Bluewolf). That is a 35k entry to 100k in three years track if you are good in front of clients. The problem there is the leadership is horrendous and they are treated as a glorified offshore shop by IBM field. If you’re an A player you can matriculate through. If not, you’ll be mired in getting laid off almost every quarter if you are not billable. Terrible culture.
