sometimes, just when you think you have a closed low shear rips it up and it reforms somewhere else after shear weakens

high level shear is effecting this storm. You can see it in the vis satellite view (surface is rotating, but higher level clouds getting blown off, preventing convection around the surface low). Once the shear reduces, the mid-level low will begin forming more over the surface low as convection increases

I had thought that Friday would be the day that we get some clarity on where this storm is launching from but it’s looking more like Saturday now.
If it launches more north than south, I think that’s good for us in Louisiana and bad for Florida. The closer it gets to Yucatán, the more western coastal areas should take note
