Stout in all seriousness, I understand the ptsd, I really do, but if you’re in this state for an invest that has yet to form into a tropical system, let alone threaten our area…..you should just take a break from the internet or at least avoid these discussions.

It’s seriously not healthy.

Naw, not even close.

I mean, I felt like throwing up a bit and there’s a growing pit in my stomach fueled by anxiety, but I’m totally fine.

Edit: I think Draconian Sanctions post right above me might be on to something

Dude have you been to the areas that were actually hit by Ida, not New Orleans or BR? This statement isn’t true in the least

and how little we got in federal aid.

Yes, and how slow any response around here has been. 2 years later and they are just now starting the process of condemning and tearing down properties that are obviously abandoned. One is not far from me and I have been worried about if another storm comes it is going to be a massive debris contributor. No roof and half of the roof framing is actually gone and crap is all over the yard.

I have complained about it to the PJ and all they do is come cut the grass when I complain saying they can't touch the lumber in the yard. They finally emailed me last week to let me know they just now started the legal process of sending out notices to condemn it and tear it down. I started complaining about it over a year ago.

Yes I have and we have some work in the hardest hit areas on some bank repos I manage. Those areas are being held up by insurance. Not by the leadership as far as I can tell.

Yea I’ll agree with you. Houma is even more of a shithole than it was and or current officials are in a lame duck year so they DGAF.

Starting to look into getting out of here once and for all.

I said last week on the PB that Higgins has not done crap for LC but the few times there have been federal funds come he was Johnny on the spot to take credit like he contributed to getting the funds allocated.

There are no runs at this point

To have a run you need an actual tropical system

What people are posting are projections based on a number of guesses and assumptions of what might happen over a particular piece of air. Some of those will end up being true and others won’t.

Yep. Add to that the supply chain wasn’t nearly as fricked for Laura as it was for Ida and I can’t reconcile the statement that was made

A bad one every 15 years and you’re ready to throw in the towel? You gonna let that keep you from Darrel’s?

So many people just have no clue. I can immediately think of a dozen or so close friends/family still fighting their insurance companies/in litigation MORE THAN TWO YEARS post-storm. Subtle, but my dad owns a million dollar home with studs still exposed in some spots. My neighbors across the street just got their roof last month and buddy a couple doors down still has fascia hanging/missing.

It’s not over after you pick up a few limbs homie.

For insurance purposes, it needs to go into Mexico. They don’t insure anything down there anyway. Any hit on the gulf coast is terrible for us from an insurance standpoint.

I’m from Terrebonne Parish and I live in Lafourche. I know how this goes. My brother is suing his insurance and has been fixing what he can on his own since Ida.

F all of them. Nobody has hardly done anything to help us over here. Hell, our own governor said we dodged a bullet. shite is infuriating. Nobody cares unless it's New Orleans sadly. But either way, I don't want that shite over here.

These models mean very little right now and until a low level center forms. The models are basically just telling you where “bad weather” is going.

Every 15 years? Have you paid attention to the past 6-7 years?

We're getting slammed with a major every year now and someone on the gulf coast gets slammed with what seems like a historic storm every year.

Michael, Irma, Harvey, Laura, Ida, and if you wanted to include east coast Florence. Doesn't include other bad ones that wiped smaller population areas off the map like Dorian. How many systems hit Louisiana 2 years ago? What was it? 4-5 hurricanes in 1 year? That's unheard of.
