Does Georgetown still have that paper mill smell? Used to be awful back in the 80’s.

Glad you're safe, but that's it?

You were in ground zero in Bonita Springs, surely you have more info to share. How's your home?

Fort Myers Beach area and barrier islands were ground zero. My buddy and his wife live in Venetian Village just behind FMB and rode it out at home. They were in the eyewall for about 5 hours

I have experience with an insurance company going bankrupt in the middle of a claim from Hurricane Sally.

I got downvoted pretty heavily for what I spoke to regarding the whole insurance thing and their profitability but I said it is NOT a bad thing for insurance carriers to profit. It enables them to store monies up from being profitable for this exact reason...the last thing anyone wants is for carriers to not have liquidity, in particular during a disaster like this. You wind up with nightmare scenarios such as this one.

I'm 30 miles away from Georgetown and can smell it when the wind blows right.

Windjammer Deck Cam is back live, their other cams still down.

Some OT-6's having drinks at the moment in their Jim Cantore outfits.

ETA the two dudes are SC's version of a baw, but they are called "bo's" not "baws". They are dressed up to go offshore fishing but are just at the bar.

WC is calling this the 3rd US landfall (4th landfall overall).
Cuba, then Cayo Costa (3:05), then Pirate Harbor (4:35) and today Georgetown.

On the contrary, the ones who managed to go unscathed in a direct hit by a cat4 will be emboldened to ride out future storms.

The folks who rode out Ida in Louisiana were saying otherwise earlier in this thread.

Didn't Georgetown have some serious flooding from another storm recently?

The house is a fortress. We are 5 miles from Barefoot Beach. Whatever the city did after Irma, alleviated all our flooding. A friend, on the Imperial, closer to the coast, got water to his roof.

And to all the snowbirds that don’t know when a stoplight is out to treat it as a 4-way…

Front Street floods regularly, but we had Joaquin in 2015, Matthew in 2016, Florence in 2018 and Dorian in 2019.
