30 min ago that cam was not even close to being underwater. Insane power this storm has.

We should have official landfall called within the hour.

Little Buddy, we took Cam 5 to a farm in the country where he can run and play. He’ll be much happier there.

Bet they won’t do it again. If you survive, these kind of storms cure of any misguided idea that you will “be okay”. This is horrific.

You have to make a distinction between Ft Myers and Ft Myers Beach, a separate town. Ft Myers is inland. Ft Myers beach is on the gulf. Ft Myers Beach is where this storm surge is. The inland town of Ft. Myers certainly is going to have problems, but isn't going to be under 8 feet of water.
Ft Myers Beach is almost exclusively tourist area/vacationers/second homes for snowbirds in the winter.

What height is cam 9?
Reporter says it is 10-12 feet high.
I'm thinking of changing my user name to SurgeCam9. That's one helluva camera.

Cam3 is actually right on the coast. That's on Manasota Key, was there this summer.

That cam 9 thats just at water level - here is what that same view is before Ian. Note, the clear pic is not cam 9 its just showing the area that cam 9 is pointed at for perspective

Anchor guy on the weather channel saying it's 6ft off the ground

We therefore commit Camera 9 to the deep...

Englewood itself should be fine. It's got the bay to help. Manasota Key and the barrier islands are fricked.

Nature is absolutely amazing and terrifying.

Damn almost 300k without power. Will surely be over 500k before it’s over
