Am I reading it correctly that the intensity is now forecasted to stay up rather than be impacted and diminished by shear?

Nah. The 12z GFS showed the same thing it has been showing when it has a Northern landfall. Shear opens it up and it sucks dry air. It slows down on approach and weakens as it makes it closer to land.

That aspect should hold true as long as it is a more Northern landfall in the panhandle or Big Bend(ish) area.

Shear dropped. Got storms everywhere, but they sure aren't organized at this point.

That GFS.....sometimes it just hits. In terms of the messy Vorticity, anyway.

it’s pretty stupid to suggest a possible mandatory evacuation of Destin.

I’m in Miramar and people are suggesting it. The people from Louisiana are saying they’re staying and the people I talked to from Missouri said they’re leaving.

Go figure

That upper low decaying over Cuba gets a little more interesting the longer this takes to stack up. It isn't having trouble convecting though, at some point it'll work out those dry air problems.

I’m also in Miramar. We drove in last night to pick up some things around the house and make sure our renters know to pick up the patio furniture if things dicey. There is not a single public official suggesting anyone leave.

The locals I know don’t expect anything and are not leaving for anything 2 and under. The renters that just got here yesterday are from TX and GA and asked my opinion. I told them water would most likely be closed from Tue/Wed on but if it’s the big bend area there is no reason to leave or panic.

The only issue for Auburn with this is does it come a little too close and cause power outages the day before the game.

That’s not the only issue auburn has….

The Boat makes the call on Stone Cold. Just the way it has been since our forefathers were posting in these threads.

I didn’t mean public officials. Just people unaccustomed to hurricanes. We’re leaving tomorrow, so we’ll be long gone before any landfall.

We need to make a rule that anyone who posts a Nam ran for a hurricane catches an auto-ban. Nam bias bomb runs are coming.

Ha! I’m close enough to walk there. I probably should. Watching this Saints game is a waste of time.
