I live near the little town where they do the pitstop at about a minute in.
Ain't no need to show off and make us plebs feel less than adequate. They are justtm running a sexxy AF v8 through God's country.....

GFS has Destin/Ft. Walton in Ian's sight.
Dropping from a Cat 4 to a 2 before landfall, though...

00z GFS is in with a present for the Panhandle.
Weakens some 40 mb from max by landfall. It also slows to a crawl midweek. Steering gets weak on the GFS if it misses the early week kick NE over Florida.

Might be more of a flooding issue than wind if so.

Duke, why have the models consistently shown a pretty strong decrease in strength right before landfall? What is eating it up?

Possible, but the GFS version would mostly flood the Gulf. Though Destin to Panama City would get a fair bit of rain off of it.

Shear increases. I watched the upper level winds increase every step toward landfall. Lets dry air work in too. Makes sense if it makes it as far north as the Panhandle it would get its arse kicked by shear.

My favorite thing about you is how you casually admit to crimes in weather threads.
It’s the Ms delta. It’s actually a cultural thing here to “mix a drink for the drive”
I’ve gone through roadblocks before and the cop held my beer while I got my license out

And people still wonder why Louisiana and Mississippi are at the bottom of every list.

It's still a crime, even if culturally celebrated.
Also, super on brand for the Delta.

Watching model runs come in. Laughing at OU's misfortune. Usual shite.

It's actually not in MS, given you're under the legal limit. You'd think that would be the case for LA, rather than MS, but nope.
Carry on with the cane insight now... I don't want to deal with another down here.
