Its a stretch of highway with a lot of sharp curves and hills. Understandable there are so many wrecks

Also lotsa different scenery along the way, easy to get distracted.

I’m a member of the “Pissed off the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge” Club after a four+ hour stoppage.

I guess if the accident is right in front of you I can give you a pass for waiting that long. But with Waze and some creative driving I think down a shell road, you can detour to 190 if you are not on the bridge. I heard about the shell road from this board. Luckily, I never have had to use it, since I don’t drive that way very often.

You can do that even if you are on the bridge

I remember the year some oil well caught fire the day before thanksgiving and had to detour through Morgan city to get back to Baton Rouge. That was miserable. Think the bridge was closed for a week.

We are divorced now but at the time she was bitching all I could see was Marie Laveau.

2007 I believe. I stayed in BR an attended the March for Miles, got threatened by Cauble, and then met Les Miles via Cauble

I legit laughed reading this. I’m a member of the have detoured to 190 on the has to be 10+ mile gravel/shell road along a levee. Has to be the longest gravel road in Louisiana. Easy 10+ miles.
