I agree with you. I think early Millennials have far more in common with late Xers than they do early Zs. But if I'm throwing a dart, that bridge sub-generation of 82 to 89 is really, really interesting as a group

Probably because they spanned one of the greatest leaps in technology in history.

Having been born in the first year that range I can tell you I remember fricking with 12 inch vinyl, 45, cassette tapes, CDs and then digital, iPod. I also remember DOS, Windows 95, Windows 3.1, Windows 98, Windows XP. I remember beepers, brick cell phones, flip phones and then touch screen.

All of these changes occurred while we were growing up.

I was born in 82 but didn’t get my first email account until 2001 and my first cellphone in 2002.

saw on the news last night where 76% of millennials had financial help from their parents last year, one great quote, "I couldn't afford this lifestyle without it"

Unless this is a new study, that included the over 50% of Millennials whose cell phones were still on the family plan because it’s substantially cheaper to do so. I have to think that the percentage who have parents cutting them a check every month is quite low.

the story didn't go into much detail about the exact type of financial help they were getting form their parents, that would definitely skew it, I have to force financial aid on my kids, fortunately I had no such issues accepting it as a kid

Awash in knowledge, limited in social IQ.

They still have time to figure it out though.

I think this perception is due to social media.

Historically, idiots of all stripes didn't really have a platform. There have always been frick ups who couldn't hold down a job, but they didn't have social media to bitch/brag about it. They certainly do now.

Plenty of us are rocking out with our cocks out and taking over our given professions, but we probably aren't putting targets on our backs by crowing about it on social media.

Generally my experience working with them. I think social media stunts people's IRL interactions.

More material and superficial.

I think SM promotes a lie-culture where everything perceived is earned when mostly its all made up.

It certainly affects everyone, younger people in general just use it more.

The internet is awesome about having so much information at your fingertips but it's also loaded with misinformation. In fact, the bullshite probably outweighs the factual.

I see a problem with critical thinking developing.

You can replace "social media" with something else, and it would have been said by every generation about the next generation throughout the history of the world. Go back to the late 18th and early 19th centuries and you'll find the word "novels" there.
