I’m ‘81 and don’t identify as a “millennial”, as my DOB usually indicates. But according to some asshat here, “that’s such a millennial” thought, to disassociate with that generation.

I can see 1981 being more Gen X, since you probably remember 1986-1989. Most Millennials can't remember the 80s.
Based on this pic, are y'all Gen X, Millennial, or Zoomer?

I'm a based Zoomer (born 98).

86-94 is peak millennial and I say that as someone born in that middle of that

Interesting opinion. But people 13-21 (who were born after 95) are always referred to Millennials on this board, and the Internet, usually when ranting about them. Are they real millennials or fake?
Millennial is a popular term/insult in recent years, people have debated what exactly is meant by this, and it seems to come down to opinion and a general "feel" to some.

Is it those born after 2000? Or those born 1982-1995 who were in the school system in 2000? Or just young people who's liberal and offended? 14 year olds eating tide pods? Or 30 year old "nu-males" with hipster beards and manbuns, who drink soy and watch superhero movies?
Why is Wheaux's post -4 downvoted. Do people here hate pogs or something.
In terms of the era you grew up in etc.

Alright, so based on this pic, where do you guys fall in the generation timeline, in terms of childhood fads and stuff?

If I'm 24, am I a Millennial? Most of the references/memes about Millennials on social media nowadays seem to be about anyone under 21 (i.e. Millennials eat tide pods, Millennials are protesting gun violence in high school). Is that "technically" incorrect?
Millennials are 1981-1996 now.

My BIL is 1994 and it's crazy different even with that size of a gap.

But early-mid 90s babies still played outside like early 80s babies, likely used cassette tapes and floppy disks early on, didn't have mobile apps and Youtube shows in their childhoods, and remember the time where the Animation Renaissance (early 90s-early 2000s) was still popping albeit remembering the second half moreso. Early 90s babies are closer to early 80s babies than early 2000s babies.
Question for those born in 1995-1997(cusp of Millennials and Gen Z).

Do you associate your childhood more closely with Millennial things like Blockbuster, Jimmy neutron, Recess, The Weekenders, Invader zim, Gundam wing, Yu gi oh, PS1, PS2, Pokemon Gens 1-3, Gorillaz, Discman, Malcolm in the middle, Cyberchase, Tamagotchi, Osmosis Jones, Kim Possible, playing outside, remembering 9/11, and having crushes on Avril lavigne, Britney spears, Jenny wakeman, and the Dark magician girl?

Or Gen Z things like streaming movies on Netflix, CN Real, Hannah Montana, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, Bakugan, The Dark knight, Pokemon Gens 4-6, Justin Bieber, Twilight, Chowder, Marvelous misadventures of Flapjack, Adventure Time, Silly bandz, not playing outside, not remembering 9/11, and having crushes on Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus?
Question for you guys who say "hurr durr I'm not a Millennial because I remember AOL/VHS/rotary phones/cassette tapes": you DO realize remembering AOL/VHS/rotary phones/cassette tapes is a key part of Millennials' childhoods right?

If Millennials are defined as 1981-1997, and considering AOL/VHS/rotary phones/cassette tapes didn't totally fade away until 2007, then that means nearly ALL Millennials grew up with these antiquated things in their childhoods. Not just "old" Millennials.

The ones who grew up with iPhones and iPads etc. in their childhoods are Gen Z, not Millennials.

There's an informative video on this.
