The 80's were like the last decade of "the good old days ". Kids still played in the streets, pick up football games, ride bikes everywhere, lots of new tech coming out.

Now you have to play dates and kids socialize online more than anything else.

So you and I were probably on simultaneous school trips to the '84 World's Fair in what, 6th grade?

Got your first DL in '87? (I have a January birthday, so maybe 88)

Tried to beg your parents for a Member's Only jacket and parachute pants after seeing E.T. at Bon Marche Mall?

Bought either "Licensed to Ill" or "The Ultimate Sin" at Record Bar in Cortana?

And never did get that gold Marantz stereo system from New Generation for Christmas...just a jam-box from TG&Y?

and puked at least once at either Fun Fair Park or Thunderbird Beach?

You haven't lived life until you've done a lock-in at the roller rink.

great movies
great Saturday morning cartoons

perfect day for me in the 80s, wake up at 9, pour the biggest bowl of cinnamon toast crunch you can imagine, and not get my arse up for 3 hours after watching Smurfs, Duck Tails, GI Joe, Hanging with mr Cooper, and NBA Inside Stuff

In the 80's, getting AIDS meant you were Gay. Unlike today, when getting AIDS means..., oh, never mind.

I'm glad to have gone through college without everyone having immediate access to a camera/video recorder at all times, though.

This. I have neighbors with kids in college and we frequently discuss this. I could not imagine having a camera/video device around at all times.

the 80's were the best hands down. So many good memories.

I remember roaming the streets with no care on a Friday night.....These days I have to stop what I'm doing and throw my kid outside or he'll spend all day on his fricking ipad watching Minecraft videos.

Look at the magnificent eightiesness of it. Look at it! LOOK AT IT!

Masters of the Universe. Manly man Ghostbusters. Cassette tapes. Walkmans. Console televisions. Under a buck gasoline. Space Shuttle. Olympic boycotts. Hurricane Juan. The national anthem when tv stations signed off. Playing outside. ALF. 1987 "wood panel" Topps baseball cards. Rabbit ears. Leftover avacado green appliances from the 70's. One telephone in the house. Prank calling without the worry of caller ID. Birthday parties at McDonalds. Fun Fair Park. Putt Putt Golf. Encyclopedias instead of Google. Grandparents alive and healthy. Schwinn bikes. Bozo's grand prize game. Buckskin Bill. Fast Track fries. Back to the Future trilogy. Commodore 64. Hot Wheel playsets. G.I. Joes. Magnum PI. Dukes of Hazzard. Wall to wall carpeting. Popping popcorn on the stove. World's Fair. Epic television mini-series. TG&Y. Cortana Mall wasn't shite. Ramer's hot dogs. K&B ice cream. Construx. BETA VCR's. The hokey pokey at Skate City. 7-11 slurpees. Price LeBlanc yelling at you. The Baton Rouge tornado outbreak of '89. The snow of '88.

The fricking 80's were great, if you were young.
