All calories, or lack there of, matter. Diet is way better for you than the sugary high calorie regular drinks. Who cares if you ordered a high calorie meal, get diet instead of regular and that's 400 less calories, a lot less sugar and carbs that you intake.

I rarely eat fast good, but when I do, if the meal comes with a drink I'll order Diet Coke, take a couple sips (don't want much more than that) and throw it out. I think a lot of people are the same.

Exactly. If one were ordering a Baconator (bunless), caesar salad, and a Coke from Wendy's, for example, the least healthy item in that meal would be the non-diet soda.

Most people still don't understand just how bad sugar (HFCS) is. It's probably the worst thing you could possibly consume (as far as actual food items go). Of course, everything in fast food is loaded with HFCS but still not nearly as much as the amount that's in coke.
