re: I was asked to bring a few kids to swim

As I was walking out I thought I vaguely heard "what an a-hole." I didn't think much about it but a few miles down the road I thought "was that kid talking about me? Nah. No reason to call me an a-hole."
One of the neighbors kids told me when they got home the lifeguard has a glass eye.
Isn't the purpose of a glass eye to conceal the fact that you are missing an eye?
If the kid doesn't want to get offended, maybe he should just go ahead and wear an eye patch.

If he's a lifeguard, isn't it his job to keep an eye on the swimmers?

That joke is old as dirt, I still chuckled though.

Well, if you were a man, you would go back and call the kid out for calling you an a-hole. Then tell his superior and make sure the kid is brought back in line or fired. frick rude kids.
He would be a better man for your actions

How old are the kids you dropped off?
I mean, they are lifeguards, not babysitters. And usually kids themselves. Short of your kids drowning or causing danger to other kids, what do you want him to do?
If your kids had walked out the gate and started walking down the street, he would have just waved bye.
So not an a-hole, but maybe a bit presumptuous. And you couldn't have known about his (alleged) eye.

I used to bring a lot of human organs to donors at work, whenever the agent would come in and say "Cap we've got some human eyes going to a donor , is it OK to put them up here?" I'd always use the old standard "sure it never hurts to have an extra set of eyes in the cockpit"

Guess I was the a-hole. Should I go apologize?

You're an a-hole because of his glasshole.

Mine and a couple neighbors to drop off. I went in with them to get an iced tea and when I left I told the kid at the gate "keep an eye on them." He was the lifeguard sitting with a couple other kids.

“I was buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my dog at Walmart and standing in line at the check out.
“A woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
“On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting the Purina Diet again although I probably shouldn’t because I’d ended up in the hospital last time, but that I’d lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
“I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.
“I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a guy who was behind her.
“Horrified, she asked if I’d ended up in the hospital in that condition because I had been poisoned by the dog food. I told her no; I stepped off a curb to sniff a poodle’s arse and a car hit me.
“I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.”

I actually knew this really obnoxious girl who would get drunk and go around telling complete strangers stupid jokes at bars. Yes, she was an attention whore. Well one night at some bar we were at, she was talking to this guy playing pool and I guess she was telling him something stupid and then she raised her hand and said "give me 4" (instead of 5 b/c she thinks she's being funny). Well this guy lifts his hand up and says "how about 3?". He was missing 2 fingers. Well her eyes got big and she started stuttering and apologizing. She was retarded but not an a-hole. He just listened it off.

And it's not a public pool. It's a club. I pay for it and I'm guessing I need to have a discussion with whomever is doing the hiring. But WTF he didn't look like a Pirate.
