Because your thread title is a fail. It has a question mark at the end of it, but you are apparently trying to say that you thought something. I don't ask if I thought something...do you?

Statements do not get question marks.

That's the true reason.

Jewish holidays are based on a Jewish lunar calendar. The early Catholic Church made Easter a lunar based holiday to ensure that it never fell at the same time as the Jewish Passover in an attempt to distance themselves from Judaism. As a result Easter bounces around from late March to middle of April over the course of an 8-10 year cycle.

It's always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox.

It's all based on the date of Passover. That's why mardi gras varies too.

Mardi Gras varies because it always has to be the same amount of time before Easter.

This.

Some of the leaders of major Christian denominations are considering making it the third Sunday in April. Dunno if they'll roll with that or not. It should be the Sunday of Passover.
